Che~y answered Council questions and supported the <br />recommended funding of $892,000. <br /> <br /> On motion~of Mrs. Webb and:~seconded by Mr. Simpson, the <br />following ordinance was approved on first readinq, and was <br />adopted by 6-1 (Nay-Corprew) vote: <br /> <br />"AN ORDINANCE' TO APPROPRIATE $89'2,000 FROM THE CAPITAL <br />IMPROVEMENT FUND FOR THE D~O~\~b~GI~.~Ci~OOL. <br /> <br /> 87-525 - ~e%ter from the City Manager recommending ~. <br />adoptkon ~f a~ ordinance to appropriate $72,500 from the Public <br />utilities Capital Improvemen5 Fund for Elliott Avenue Sewer <br />Extension. <br /> <br /> "As part of the::~onditions of the contract we had with <br />Vacon Development, Inc., the city was to .pay~ 50% Of the cost of <br />the ex.t~nsion of a sewer line from Erede~.ick Boulevard, <br />approximately'700 fee~'to theTruxtun~s'i~e. Unfortunately, <br />that development has-not come to f~ui~io~. The developer~ <br />acros~ the s%reet from the proposed ~acon. development in%ends, <br />to extend the seer~line that would serve not only his parcel, <br />but the City-owned parcel. <br /> <br /> In an effort to serve both parcels, at the least monetary <br />expenditure and the elimination of the duplication of effort, <br />it is recommended that the City participate 50% funding for the <br />installation ~f this line. The plans for the project were <br /> <br />advertised with the bid opening on November 17, <br />bidders for the project are shown on Attachment <br />low bidder being Vice Construction Corporation. <br />of the project is anticipated as follows: <br /> <br />Contract Price (Vico Construction Corporation) <br />Contingencies (15%) <br />Contract Administration & Inspection <br />Relocation of Utilities <br /> <br />1987. Furthermore, it is anticipated that with the <br />eventual development of City-owned Tru.xtun. property, we ~ill <br />recoup all of our costs. <br /> <br /> If Council wishes to proceed with this project, the City <br />Engineer requests appropriation of the necessary funds and <br />award of the project to Vico Construction Corporation, who has <br />successfully completed numerous projects for the City. Award <br />of this projec~ will be subject to the developer paying his <br />share of the total project costs. <br /> <br /> Therefore, I concur and recommend appropriation of the <br />necessary funds and award of _the contract to the low bidder." <br /> <br /> On motion of Mrs. Webb and seconded by Mr. Simpson, the <br />following ordinance was approved on first reading, and was <br />adopted by unanimous vote: <br /> <br /> <br />
