On motion of Mr. Gray and seconded by Mrs. Lucas, to award the contract to Virginia Turf Management Associates the lo~ bidder for PortCentre landscaping PhaSe I, and by the following vote: . : : Ayes:~Corprew, Gray, Lucas,:Simpson, Williams, Webb Nays: None . : 88-10:4 - Letter from the City Manager recommending adoption of a mo.tion to award a contract ~to the low bidder~ for Charles Peete Recreation Complex, . . ~ . ."The-t986-91 Capital Improvement Program identified $100,000 to construct a major league ballfield at the Charles Peete Recreation Complex. These funds were appropriated by Council on June 23/ 1987. All of the scheduiled improvements have been completed with: the exception of t~he constru.ct:ion of a 50-space parking lotland related.~work,. "As you are aware, as part of the 3.4 million dollar City Park improvement project a new pro shop and concession area was constructed. The current Golf Professional Mr. Thomas J. Whillock, has informed the City he is not interested in submittinc a proposal for the operation of the new complex. However, he has graciously agreed to stay on untill a new Golf Course Manager is selected.
