March 8, 1988 <br /> <br /> "The 1987-92 Capital Improvement Program includes funds <br />for the ongoing maintenance and repairs to the Seawall <br />structure, deck and utilities. Phas~ II of this two, phase <br />project includes the rewiring of all lighting standards in the <br />North Harbor,' installing five Olde Towne light fixtures and <br />providing an additional power panel~to serve Portside events~ <br /> <br /> Bids Were received for Phase II on February 18, 1988. The <br />bids received were~very competitive and ~somewhat lower than <br />today's average -conStruction costs-(s~e Attachment No~'~l)~ The <br />total anticipated project cost (including contingencies; ~' <br />administration and inspection) is $67,000. The additional <br />funds requested in contingencies are necessary to complete this <br />work and other ongoing repairs and improvements to maintain the <br />Seawall structure. The total anticipated project cost.,iS <br />calculated as follows:' , ~ ~ <br /> <br /> Construction Contract (Fair & Square Electric) $20,075.00 <br /> City Supplied Lighting Standards $ 5~185.00 <br /> Engineering and Inspection $11,579.00 <br /> Contingencies ' ~0~i .00 <br /> <br /> TOTAL ANTICIPATED PROJECT COST $67~000.00 <br /> <br /> The City Engineer recommends award of a contract to the <br />low bidder, Fair and Square Electric., and appropriation of <br />$67,000.00 · <br /> <br /> I, therefore, concur and recommend~appropriatio~-!of~'the <br />necessary funds and~award of the contract to the low bidder." <br /> <br /> On motion~of. Mrs. Lucas and seconded by Mr. Simpson, the <br />following ordinance was approved on first reading, and~aWard of <br />the contract to Fair & Square Electric, low bidder and by the <br />following vote: <br /> <br />"AN ORDINANCE TO APPROPRIATE $67,000 FROM THE CAPITAL <br />IMPROVEMENT FUND FOR THE PORTSMOUTH SEAWALL LIGHTING ' <br />AND IMPROVEMENT PROJECT, PHASE II." <br /> <br />Ayes: Corprew, Gray, Lucas, Simpson, Williams, Webb <br />Nays:.None <br /> <br /> 88-100 - Letter from the City Manager recommending <br />adoption of an ordinance to appropriate $780,000 from the <br />Capital Improvement Fund for construction of Clifford Street <br />extension from City Park Avenue to Elmhurst Lane, and award of <br />contract. ~' <br /> <br /> "The 1987-92 Capital Improvement Program includes funding <br />for Clifford Street extension. This project involves extension <br />of Clifford Street from City Park Avenue to Elmhurst Lane <br />including sidewalks and drainage as well as a bicycle trail. <br />Bids were received On February 25,' 1988 and a tabulation of the <br />bids is shown on Attachment No. 1. <br /> <br /> The total anticipated projeCt cost is~ as follow: <br /> <br /> <br />
