March 8, 1988 At a regular meeting of the City Council held on Tuesday, March 8, 1988, there were present: Mayor Gloria O. webb, E. G.~Corprew, Jr., J.~ Robert Gray, ~L. Louise Lucas, J. Herbert Simpson, LaMar Williams, GeOrge L. Hanbury, II, City Manager, Steven Lieberman, City Attorney. Absent: Jack P. Barnes .... : Rev. Percy O. White, Associate Pastor, Et. Mark's Baptist Church, opened the meeting with prayer, followed by the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag. Mayor Webb welcomed all visitors in attendance. Motion of Mrs. Lucas and seconded by Mr. Simpson, minutes of a called meeting of February 23, 1988; minutes of a regular meeting of January 23, 1988,_to be approved as received and was adopted b~ unanimous vote. 88-97 - Presentation of Proclamations was made by the Mayor to the following persons: "Youth Art Month" received by Melissa Douglass. ~%American Association of University Women Week" received' by Kathy Batkin. "American Red Cross Month" received by ~Rob~rt S.B.. Ossman. "Tall Cedar Week" received by Murry Shipman. - UNFINISHED BUSINESS - 88-77 - The following ordinance approved On first reading at the Regular Meeting of February 23, 1988, was taken up and read. "AN ORDINANCE TO APPROPRIATE $385,000 FROM THE CAPITAL IMPROVEMENT FUND FOR THE WIDENING OF ELMHURST LAND AND THE ADDITION OF SIDEWALKS AND DRAINAGE IMPROVEMENTS., Larosa M. Mann, 805 Jewell Avenue, representing the Simonsdale Civic League, speke concerning the need for street improvements in the Simonsdale neighborhood. Motion of Mr. Simpson and seconded by Mr. Gray, the ordinance was adopted, and by the following vote: Ayes.' Corprew, Gray, Lucas, Simpson, ~Willi~ms, Webb Nays: None - REPORTS FROM THE CITY MANAGER~ 88-99 - Letter from the City Manager recommending adoption of an ordinance~to appropriate-S61,000 from the Capital Improvement Fund for Seawall lighting and improvement Project, Phase II, and award of contract.
