March 8, 1988 <br /> <br /> At a regular meeting of the City Council held on Tuesday, <br />March 8, 1988, there were present: <br /> <br />Mayor Gloria O. webb, E. G.~Corprew, Jr., J.~ Robert Gray, <br />~L. Louise Lucas, J. Herbert Simpson, LaMar Williams, <br />GeOrge L. Hanbury, II, City Manager, Steven Lieberman, <br />City Attorney. <br /> <br /> Absent: Jack P. Barnes .... : <br /> <br /> Rev. Percy O. White, Associate Pastor, Et. Mark's Baptist <br />Church, opened the meeting with prayer, followed by the Pledge of <br />Allegiance to the Flag. <br /> <br /> Mayor Webb welcomed all visitors in attendance. <br /> <br /> Motion of Mrs. Lucas and seconded by Mr. Simpson, minutes of <br />a called meeting of February 23, 1988; minutes of a regular <br />meeting of January 23, 1988,_to be approved as received and was <br />adopted b~ unanimous vote. <br /> <br /> 88-97 - Presentation of Proclamations was made by the Mayor <br />to the following persons: <br /> <br />"Youth Art Month" received by Melissa Douglass. <br />~%American Association of University Women Week" received' <br />by Kathy Batkin. <br />"American Red Cross Month" received by ~Rob~rt S.B.. Ossman. <br />"Tall Cedar Week" received by Murry Shipman. <br /> <br /> - UNFINISHED BUSINESS - <br /> <br /> 88-77 - The following ordinance approved On first reading at <br />the Regular Meeting of February 23, 1988, was taken up and read. <br /> <br /> "AN ORDINANCE TO APPROPRIATE $385,000 FROM THE CAPITAL <br /> IMPROVEMENT FUND FOR THE WIDENING OF ELMHURST LAND AND THE <br /> ADDITION OF SIDEWALKS AND DRAINAGE IMPROVEMENTS., <br /> <br /> Larosa M. Mann, 805 Jewell Avenue, representing the <br />Simonsdale Civic League, speke concerning the need for street <br />improvements in the Simonsdale neighborhood. <br /> <br /> Motion of Mr. Simpson and seconded by Mr. Gray, the ordinance <br />was adopted, and by the following vote: <br /> <br /> Ayes.' Corprew, Gray, Lucas, Simpson, ~Willi~ms, Webb <br /> Nays: None <br /> <br />- REPORTS FROM THE CITY MANAGER~ <br /> <br /> 88-99 - Letter from the City Manager recommending adoption of <br />an ordinance~to appropriate-S61,000 from the Capital Improvement <br />Fund for Seawall lighting and improvement Project, Phase II, and <br />award of contract. <br /> <br /> <br />
