LUcas~ the following <br />resolutiOn was adopted, and by the-following Vote: <br /> <br /> "A R <br /> _ ESOLUTION REQUESTING THE VIRGINIA DEPARTMENT~OF <br /> TRANSPORTATION TO APPROVE CERTAIN AD~ITI~ONS AND DELETIONS OF <br /> STREETS IN THE CITY OF RORTSMOUTH FOR THE PURPOSE OF <br /> CALCULATING MAINTENANCE PAYMENTS. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the regulation~o-f the Virgini~a DeUartme-nt of <br />Transportation adopted pursuan-t t~ Section 3~;l~41.'l~?Code of <br />Virginia, require that the City submit a request for changes in <br />the mileage additions and deletions of City streets which occurred <br />during the fiscal ye'ar; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the following descri'bed changes in mileage have <br />occurred in the City of Portsmouth for the reason specified. <br /> <br /> -NOW, ~THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council~ of the City of <br />Portsmouth, Virginia~ that the Virginia Department of <br />Transportation be requested to approve the follOwing additions and <br />deletions ifer streets in the City of Portsmouth for ithe purpose of <br />calculating maintenance payments: . ~ <br /> <br />Additi0n~ <br /> <br />1. Chemical Way from Progress Road to West Norfolk Road." <br /> <br />Ayes: Barnes~ Corprew, Gray, Lucas, Simpson, Williams, Webb <br />Nays: None <br /> <br /> 88-125 - Letter from~ the City Manager recommending adoption <br />of a resolution approving the 1988 Communi~ty Development Program <br />of the City of Portsmouth, authorizing the City Manager to file <br />documents required to obtain the City's 1988 Community Development <br />Block Grant entitlement. ~ <br /> <br /> "The 1988 appropriation ordinance for the Community <br />Development Black Grant is enclosed for your review. This <br />appropriation includes an anticipated ~!988 Entitlement of <br />$1,700,000 and anticipated program income of $1,000,000. We also <br />expect to have $300,000 available in reprogrammable funds <br />(carryover from previous years). The City of Portsmouth will have <br />a total of $3,000,000 available to continue important Community <br />Development activities such as PortCentre site improvements, code <br />enforcement work and acquisition of deteriorated properties along <br />Effingham Street. <br /> <br /> <br />
