2¸1 <br /> <br />March :22, i~88 <br /> <br /> The City Engineer recommends appropriation of $585,000. <br />I, therefore, concur and recommend appropriation of the necessary <br />funds." <br /> <br /> On motion of Mr. Gray and seconded by Mr~ Bar~es, the <br />following ordinance was 'approved on first reading, and by <br />unanimous vote: <br /> <br /> ?'?'~N ORDINANCE TO APPROPRIATE $~,~.FROM THE CAPITAL <br /> IMPROVEMENT FUND FOR THE CITY'S SHARE OF AN INDUSTRIAL <br /> ACCESS ROAD GRANT FOR THE RECONSTRUCTION OF HARPER ROAD <br /> IN THeE PINNER'S POINT AREA." ~ <br /> <br /> 88-122- Letter from the City Manager recommending adoption <br />of an ordinance to amend~Section 17-35 of the City COde pertaining <br />to inspection fees for new construction rental dwellings. <br /> <br /> "It has recently been brought to your attention by the <br />Portsmouth/Chesapeake Board of Realtors and others that the fee <br />from rental inspections fro newly built apartments is duplicative <br />of other inspection fees required to obtain a certificate of <br />occupancy. <br /> <br /> The City Attorney and I ~have reviewed this mattem and propose <br />that Chapter 17 of the Code-be~modified to-ref~lect that <br />incorporation of the initial rental inspection fee for newly built <br />units on~y, be included in-the' amount paid for a building permit. <br /> <br /> Newly built units will be inspected prior to first occupancy <br />and subsequently as vacancies occu.r. Subsequen,t inspections will <br />be charged for at the current rate of $15. <br /> <br /> A copy of the proposed ordinance to modify the code is <br />attached. I recommend adoption of this ordinance." <br /> <br /> On motion oftMr~ Gray and seconded by Mr. Barnes~ the <br />following ordinance was adopted on first and final reading, and by <br />the following vote: <br /> <br />"AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND CHAPTER 17 OF THE CODE OF THE <br />CITY,OF PORTSMOUTH; VIRGINIA, 1973, AS~!AMENDED, BY <br />AMENDING SECTION 17-35, PERTAINING TO INSPECTION FEES[" <br /> <br />Ayes: Barnes, Co~prew, Gray, Lucas, Simpson, Williams, Webb <br />Nays: None · <br /> <br /> 88-123 - Letter from the City Manager recommending adoption <br />of a resolution appointing viewers for Avondale Road street <br />closure. <br /> <br /> "Calvary Evangelical Baptist Church has made-application to <br />vacate a portion of Avondale road. The notice of application and <br />request for appointment of viewers has bee advertised~ <br /> <br /> I recommend adoption of the ~resolution appointing viewers for <br />this application." <br /> <br /> On motion of Mr, Barnes and seconded by Mr. Gray, the <br />following resolution was adopted, and by the following vote: <br /> <br /> <br />
