April 26, 1988 <br /> <br /> I recommend the adoption of this ordinance by the City <br />Council." <br /> <br /> On motion of Mr. Simpson and seconded by Mr. Barnes, the <br />following ordinance was adopted ~on first and f~nal reading, and by <br />the following vote: <br /> <br />"AN ORDINANCE PERMITTING DEPUTY SHERIFFS EMPLOYED BY THE <br />SHERIFF OF THE CITY OF PORTSMOUTH, VIRGINIA TO ENGAGE IN <br />OFF-DUTY EMPBOYMENT-REQUIRING THE USE OF THEIR POLICE POWERS <br />AND AUTHORIZING THE SHERIFF TO ESTABLISH SUCH RULES AND <br />REGULATIONS NECESSARY TO GOVERN SUCH OFF-DUTY EMPLOYMENT. <br />ACTIVITIES, AND SERVICES." <br /> <br />Ayes: Barnes, Corprew, Lucas, Simpson, Williams, Webb <br />Nays: None <br /> <br /> 88-177 - Letter from the City Manager recommending adoption <br />of a motion to sell a small parcel of property on Palmer Street. <br /> <br /> "The City has advertised a small parcel of property on Palmer <br />Street for sale. The only offer received was from Cartinez C. <br />Blow in the amount of $1,055.00. The assessed value of the <br />property is $880.00. <br /> <br /> The property would be used in connection with adjacent <br />property owned by the developer for construction~of two apartment <br />buildings of three units each. The City property would actually <br />be used as part of the parking area for this development, City <br />departments have not indicated any objection to the sale of the <br />property. <br /> <br /> I recommend adoption of a resolution accepting the offer and <br />authorizing the sale of the property." <br /> <br /> On motion of Mr. Barnes and seconded by Mr. Corprew, the <br />motion to sell a small'parcel of property on Palmer Street, was <br />tabled and by unanimous vote. <br /> <br /> 88-178 - Letter from the City Manager recommending adoption <br />of a motion for the City Treasurer to refund (without interest <br />the following: <br /> <br />Real Estate Taxes: <br /> <br />$139.08 to <br />$118.43 to <br />$390.88 to <br />$234.17 to <br />$ 22.49 to <br />$144.41 to <br /> <br />Gladys Brown <br />Jefferson B. Brown <br />Beatrice Croom <br />GSH Escrow & Title Co./Inc. <br />Pettigrew Green <br />Nunnally and Lumplin, PC <br /> <br />$ 22.51 to Juanita B. Taylor <br />$389.83 to Weyhaeuser Mortgage Co. <br /> <br />Personal Property Taxes: <br /> <br />a.) $ 18.70 to Diane L. Carr <br />b.) $ 9.05 to Glenn T. Goodrich <br />c.) $147.59 to Timothy G.
