"Sheriff Gary W. Waters has requested the City Council to approve an ordinance pertaining to the off-duty employment of deputy Sheriffs. Under the provisions of the State's Law Enforcement Liability Self-Insurance Plan, which is administered by the Division of Risk Management of the Department Of-General Services, certai-n off,duty employment by deputy sheriffs Can be included in the liability coverage of the plan. Deputy sheriffs are eligible for coverage by the State plan only if the locality has enacted an ordinance pursuant to Section 15.1-133,1 of the Stalte Code permitting the off-duty employment. The City Attorney has drafted the attached ordinance which is in accordance with the abov9 stated section of the State Code.
