June 14, 1988 <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the City of Portsmouth is eligible to submit a <br />grant application for funding for t~e Fiscal Year 1989 pursuant <br />to the regulations governing the administration and use of such <br />funds, and has reviewed and considered the regulations and <br />applications covering administration and use of said funds. <br /> <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by'the~Council of the City <br />of Portsmouth, Virginia that the Council does hereby endorse <br />the Clean Community Program of the Beaut~ffcation and Clean <br />Community Commission fore'the City Of~P~rtsmou~th,~ vi~inia. <br /> <br /> BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council for the City of <br />Portsmouth authorizes the City Manager'tb ~ia~ Dudget,~ia~d <br />apply for a Grant w~i~h, if appr~ed,~wiIl~De used tO fund said <br />program and hereby requests the Uepa~tme~Of ~aste ~a~agement, <br />Division of Litter Control and Recycling, to consider and <br />approve the application and program, said p~ogram~b~ing in <br />accord with the regulations governing the use and expenditure <br />of such funds." <br /> <br />Ayes: Barnes, Corprew, <br />Nays:None <br /> <br />Gray, Lucas, Simpson, Williams <br /> <br /> 88-231 - Letter from the City Manager recommending <br />adoption of a resolution authorizing the filing of an <br />application in the amount of $750.00 with the Virginia <br />Commission for the Arts. <br /> <br /> "The Director of the Portsmouth Museums has preDared an <br />application tc receive a technical assistance grant in the <br />amount of $750 from the Virginia Commission for the Arts. The <br />award of this grant will allow curatorial staff to attend a <br />variety of training sessions and workshops regarding the <br />organizational operation of exhibits which will enhance the <br />professional development of our local curators. There I no <br />local match requirement. <br /> <br /> Your approval of the attached resolOtion is required in <br />order for the Commission to consider the grant submission." <br /> <br /> Motion of Mr. Simpson and seconded by Mr. Barnes, the <br />following resolution was adopted, and by'the following vote: <br /> <br /> "A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO SUBMITiAN <br /> APPLICATION FOR FUNDING TO THE VIRGINIA COMMISSION FOR THE <br /> ARTS. ~ <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the Council of the City of~Portsmouth, Virginia <br />has created the Department of Museums to coordinate the City's <br />cultural activities within the boundaries of the City; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the Virginia Commission for the Arts provides <br />fUnding to enhance local cUltural programs through technical <br />assistance; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the City of Portsmouth is eligible to submit <br />grant aDplications for funding pursuant to regulations <br />governing the administration and use of such funds. <br /> <br /> <br />
