June 14, 1988 <br /> <br /> 88-234 Letter from the City Manager recommending <br />adoption of a motion to accept the award~from the Virginia <br />Department of Conservation and Historic Resources to fund the <br />Chesapeake Bay Youth Conservation Corps Program and to transfer <br />$35,990 from the Grants ~ontingency Account. <br /> <br /> "I am pleased to inform you that the'~irginia Department <br />of Conservation and Historic Resources has approved our <br />application for funding A Chesapeake By Youth Conservation <br />CorDs of eighteen <br />(18) students 'and two supervisors over the summer mon%hs (9 <br />week <br />program) to work on shoreline conservation projects. Specific <br />erosion control and water quality enhancement projects have <br />been identified at City Park and Sleepy Hole Park. <br /> <br /> The Youth Conservation Corps Program urovides a meaningful <br />and educational work experience for the participants. The <br />program is 100% state funded and no local match is required. <br />I recommend the acceptance of this award and tbs transfer of <br />$35,990 from %he Grants Contingency Account." <br /> <br /> On motion of Mr. Simpson and seconded by Mr. Barnes, that <br />authorization be granted to accept the award from the Virginia <br />Department of Conservation and Historic ResOurces to fund the <br />Chesapeake Bay Youth Conservation Corps Program and to transfer <br />$35,990 from the Grants Contingency Account, and was adopted by <br />unanimous vote. <br /> <br /> 88-235 - Letter from the City Manager recommending <br />adoption of a motion for the Commissioner of the Revenue <br />refund (without interest) the following: <br /> <br />to <br /> <br />Business Licenses: <br /> <br />(a) $ 9.21 to Albert and Hazel McCaskill <br />(b) $710.40 to James W. Baker <br />(c) $ 36.68 to Chesapeake Auto Supply Co. <br />(d) $418.67 to W. T. Knowles <br />(e) S 74.97 to Frankie O. Lawrence <br />(f) s353.60 to Maxims Beauty Salons, Inc~ <br />(g) $865.69 to Prices, Inc. <br />(h) $150.00 to Los Amigos at Portside, Inc. <br /> <br /> "The <br />following <br /> <br />Commissioner of the Revenue is requesting the <br />refunds of business licenses without interest: <br /> <br /> As listed above. <br /> <br /> I recommend that City Council adopt these motions and that <br />these refunds be granted." <br /> <br /> On motion of Mr. Simpson and seconded by Mrs. Lucas, the <br />refunds were approved, as requested, and adopted by unanimous <br />vote. <br /> <br /> 88-236 - Letter from the City Manager recommending <br />adoption of a motion submitting a list of Delinquent Personal <br />Property Taxes for the taxable year 1987 a report showing <br />statistical data related to personal property taxes for the <br />past five years. <br /> <br /> <br />
