June 14, 1988 88-234 Letter from the City Manager recommending adoption of a motion to accept the award~from the Virginia Department of Conservation and Historic Resources to fund the Chesapeake Bay Youth Conservation Corps Program and to transfer $35,990 from the Grants ~ontingency Account. "I am pleased to inform you that the'~irginia Department of Conservation and Historic Resources has approved our application for funding A Chesapeake By Youth Conservation CorDs of eighteen (18) students 'and two supervisors over the summer mon%hs (9 week program) to work on shoreline conservation projects. Specific erosion control and water quality enhancement projects have been identified at City Park and Sleepy Hole Park. The Youth Conservation Corps Program urovides a meaningful and educational work experience for the participants. The program is 100% state funded and no local match is required. I recommend the acceptance of this award and tbs transfer of $35,990 from %he Grants Contingency Account." On motion of Mr. Simpson and seconded by Mr. Barnes, that authorization be granted to accept the award from the Virginia Department of Conservation and Historic ResOurces to fund the Chesapeake Bay Youth Conservation Corps Program and to transfer $35,990 from the Grants Contingency Account, and was adopted by unanimous vote. 88-235 - Letter from the City Manager recommending adoption of a motion for the Commissioner of the Revenue refund (without interest) the following: to Business Licenses: (a) $ 9.21 to Albert and Hazel McCaskill (b) $710.40 to James W. Baker (c) $ 36.68 to Chesapeake Auto Supply Co. (d) $418.67 to W. T. Knowles (e) S 74.97 to Frankie O. Lawrence (f) s353.60 to Maxims Beauty Salons, Inc~ (g) $865.69 to Prices, Inc. (h) $150.00 to Los Amigos at Portside, Inc. "The following Commissioner of the Revenue is requesting the refunds of business licenses without interest: As listed above. I recommend that City Council adopt these motions and that these refunds be granted." On motion of Mr. Simpson and seconded by Mrs. Lucas, the refunds were approved, as requested, and adopted by unanimous vote. 88-236 - Letter from the City Manager recommending adoption of a motion submitting a list of Delinquent Personal Property Taxes for the taxable year 1987 a report showing statistical data related to personal property taxes for the past five years.
