~ ' June 14, i988 <br /> <br /> "Transmitted herewith is a letter from Mr. Charles B. <br />Whitehurst, City Treasurer, submitting to City Council a list of <br />Delinquent Personal Property Taxes for the taxable year 1987. <br /> <br /> Also enclosed is a report showing statistical data related tc <br />personal property taxes for the past five years, which was <br />prepared in the Department of Finance. <br /> <br /> A copy of the printout~listi~g Delinquent 1987 Personal <br />Property Taxes is available in the City Clerk's Office for <br />Council's use. Also, a copy has been placed in City's <br />Public Library for review by the public." <br /> <br /> Motion of Mrs. Lucas and seconded by Mr. Simpson, to <br />receive the report as information, and was adopted by unanimous <br />vote, :~ <br /> <br /> 88-237 - Letter from the City Manager Transmitting the <br />Quarterly Financial Report for the period ended March 31, 1988. <br /> <br /> "In accordance with Section 11-43 of the City Code, the <br />Quarterly Financial Report for the period ended March 312, 1988, <br />is herewith submitted. <br /> <br /> Actual revenues to date stand at 62% percent of the revenues <br />estimated for the year, and 71 percent of the appropriations have <br />been expended as of March 31, 1988. During the same quarter last <br />year 66 percent of the estimated revenues had been received and <br />expenditures were 72 percent of the budget appropriations.) At <br />this point, there does not appear to be any indication of <br />substantial problems~with respect to either the revenues or the <br />expenditures." <br /> <br /> Motion of Mr, Simpson and seconded by Mr. Barnes, to receive <br />the report as information, and was adopted by unanimous vote. <br /> <br />- NEW BUSINESS <br /> <br /> 88-238 - Councilman Barnes offered the following nominations <br />for appointments to the following Boards/Commissions: <br /> <br />Museums & Fine Arts Commission <br /> <br /> Spurgeon T. Carey, Jr., was appointed to fill an unexpired <br />term, ending November 1, 1989, replacing Rachel N. Smith. <br /> <br />Library Board <br /> <br /> Judith Wilson Harrell, was appointed for a term of three <br />years, ending December 1, 1991, replacing AliCe Rawles. <br /> <br />Southeastern Virginia Job Training Administration <br /> <br /> John Ryder reappointed for a term of one year, ending July 1, <br />1989; Leo V. Schocklin and John R. St. George, Jr., appointed for <br />a term of two years, ending July 1, 1990; replacing Dr. Cheryl <br />Wax Creager and T. Richard Walden. <br /> <br /> <br />
