~ ' June 14, i988 "Transmitted herewith is a letter from Mr. Charles B. Whitehurst, City Treasurer, submitting to City Council a list of Delinquent Personal Property Taxes for the taxable year 1987. Also enclosed is a report showing statistical data related tc personal property taxes for the past five years, which was prepared in the Department of Finance. A copy of the printout~listi~g Delinquent 1987 Personal Property Taxes is available in the City Clerk's Office for Council's use. Also, a copy has been placed in City's Public Library for review by the public." Motion of Mrs. Lucas and seconded by Mr. Simpson, to receive the report as information, and was adopted by unanimous vote, :~ 88-237 - Letter from the City Manager Transmitting the Quarterly Financial Report for the period ended March 31, 1988. "In accordance with Section 11-43 of the City Code, the Quarterly Financial Report for the period ended March 312, 1988, is herewith submitted. Actual revenues to date stand at 62% percent of the revenues estimated for the year, and 71 percent of the appropriations have been expended as of March 31, 1988. During the same quarter last year 66 percent of the estimated revenues had been received and expenditures were 72 percent of the budget appropriations.) At this point, there does not appear to be any indication of substantial problems~with respect to either the revenues or the expenditures." Motion of Mr, Simpson and seconded by Mr. Barnes, to receive the report as information, and was adopted by unanimous vote. - NEW BUSINESS 88-238 - Councilman Barnes offered the following nominations for appointments to the following Boards/Commissions: Museums & Fine Arts Commission Spurgeon T. Carey, Jr., was appointed to fill an unexpired term, ending November 1, 1989, replacing Rachel N. Smith. Library Board Judith Wilson Harrell, was appointed for a term of three years, ending December 1, 1991, replacing AliCe Rawles. Southeastern Virginia Job Training Administration John Ryder reappointed for a term of one year, ending July 1, 1989; Leo V. Schocklin and John R. St. George, Jr., appointed for a term of two years, ending July 1, 1990; replacing Dr. Cheryl Wax Creager and T. Richard Walden.
