August 9, 1988 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED b~ the Council of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia, that it~hereby expresses its opposition to the further~expansion or prolongation.of Craney Island as a disposal area. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the City of Portsmouth hereby endorses the concept of House Joint Resolution 163 that alternatives to the _use~of Cr. ane~ Island as a disposal area be developed and that its availability for development purposes be expedited° BE IT FURTHER RESQLVED that the City Clerk.be, and she hereby is, directed to forward copies of this resolution to the Virginia Delegation to the United States Congress, the Govsrnor of Virginia,~ the Portsmouth Delegation to th~ General Assembly of Virginia,~ and the United States Army Corps of Engineers." I, therefore, of $99,168.01 from program." "The 1988 Fire Program's Fund provides funds for improving fire service operations. The Uirginia Fire Services Board takes the position that firefighter safety is the first priority for which funds distributed to localities saould be used. I am leased that the Virginia Fire Services Board has ~ra~ted the Cit~ anaward of $99,168.01.
