Au.clust 8, 2000 <br /> <br /> At a Called Meeting of the City Council on Tuesday, August 8, 2000, there were <br />present: <br /> <br />Vice Mayor Bernard D. Griffin, Sr., Cameron C. Pitts, *P. Ward Robinett, Jr., J. Thomas <br />Berm III, *VVilliam E. Moody, Jr., Charles B. Whitehurst, Sr., City Manager Ronald W. <br />Massie, City Attorney G. Timothy Oksman. <br /> <br />00 - 188 - The following call for the meeting was read: <br /> <br /> "Please attend a Called Meeting of the City Council to be held in the City <br />Manager's Conference Room, 801 Crawford Street, (~th floor, 5:00 p.m., Tuesday, <br />August 8, 2000, for the purpose of a Public Work Session. <br /> <br /> In addition, you may consider a motion to go into a Closed Meeting. <br /> <br /> By order of the Mayor." <br /> <br />00 - 189 - The following items were discussed in Public Work Session: <br /> <br />1. Boys and Girls Club <br />2. Fiscal Stress Video <br />3. Demolition Program <br />4. Economic Development Ambassador Program <br /> <br /> Motion by Mr. Moody, and seconded by Mr. Whitehurst, to go into Closed <br />Meeting pursuant to provisions of Section 2.1-344(A) of the Code of Virginia, to discuss <br />or consider the following: <br /> <br /> subsection 3, the acquisition or sale of realty for a public purpose; and <br /> <br /> subsection 4, prospective business expansion or location, and also investing <br />public funds where competition or bargaining is involved. <br /> <br /> In addition, Council will discuss or consider pending litigation, as permitted by <br />subsection 7. <br /> <br /> The motion was adopted by unanimous vote. <br /> <br /> Motion by Mr. Moody, and seconded by Mr. Whitehurst, pursuant to Section <br />2.1-344. I(D) of the Code of Virginia, certifying that to the best of the Council Member's <br />knowledge during the immediately preceding Closed Meeting of the City Council: <br /> <br /> 1. Only public business matters lawfully exempted from open meeting <br /> requirements by the Virginia Freedom of Information Act, and <br /> <br /> 2. Only such public business matters as were identified in the motion by which <br /> the Closed Meeting was convened, were heard, discussed or considered in <br /> the meeting by the City Council. <br /> <br /> The motion was adopted by unanimous vote. <br /> On motion, meeting adjourned. <br /> <br />Minutes prepared by: <br /> <br />Victor H.
