As a result of the construction of the addition to the James Hurst Elementary <br />School, it is necessary for the Virginia Electric and Power Company to acquire a right of <br />way across property of the City of Portsmouth in order to distribute electric power to the <br />new addition. <br /> <br />Financial Impact: <br />. None <br /> <br />Staff Recommends: <br />. Adoption of a resolution authorizing the City Manager to execute a Right of Way <br />Agreement to Virginia Electric and Power Company for installation of a power line cable <br />to serve the new addition to the James Hurst Elementary School across the property of <br />the City. Vision Principal: Thriving Neighborhoods and a Sense of Community. <br /> <br />Next Steps following City Council Action: <br />. Execution of Right of Way Agreement between City of Portsmouth and Virginia <br />Electric and Power Company. <br /> <br />Motion by Mr. Whitehurst, and seconded by Ms. Psimas, to adopt the following <br />resolution, and was adopted by the following vote: <br /> <br />"RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE A RIGHT OF <br />WAY AGREEMENT WITH VIRGINIA ELECTRIC AND POWER COMPANY FOR A <br />POWER LINE ACROSS PROPERTY OF THE CITY TO SERVE THE JAMES HURST <br />ELEMENTARY SCHOOL." <br /> <br />BE IT RESOLVED that the City Manager be and he hereby is authorized to <br />execute a Deed of Easement to Virginia Electric and Power Company for an electric <br />cable line to serve the James Hurst Elementary School across the property of the City <br />being developed for the James Hurst Elementary School at such time as may be <br />appropriate and necessary. <br /> <br />Ayes: Cherry, Moody, Psi mas, Whitehurst, Griffin <br />Nays: None <br /> <br />- New Business - <br /> <br />10 - 422 - Boards and Commissions <br /> <br />There were no appointments. <br /> <br />10 - 423- Items Submitted by Council Members <br /> <br />'" Mr. Moody informed City Council and citizens of the accolade bestowed upon Bide- <br />A-Wee Golf Course of a 4.5 rating given by Golf Digest Magazine and reported in <br />the Virginia Golfer Magazine. This rating is only second to Torrey Pines in California <br />which has a 5.0 rating for municipal golf courses. <br /> <br />'" Mr. Moody informed citizens of the New Port Community Center. <br /> <br />'" Mayor Griffin informed citizens and City Council of the ribbon cutting at the new <br />Roses on Airline Boulevard. He also spoke on a panel discussion he participated in <br />at Bon Secours Maryview. <br /> <br />'" Mayor Griffin asked that citizens participate In the upcoming Umoja Festival, <br />September 17-19, at nTelos. <br /> <br />'" Mr. Moody asked that staff address putting a fence around the retention ponds in <br />Ebony Heights. <br />
