You were most recently briefed by me and my staff on <br />several options for short and long-term relief. Staff reviewed <br />the four Options previously presented to you on new construction, <br />renovation, and relocation of the jail with accompanying costs and <br />tax impacts. <br /> <br /> Other options presented for eonsideratio~ included the <br />immediate need for a modular 3ail unit and possible site loca- <br />tions, a space utilization study of the Sheriff's Department <br />and the Police Department, and the continued pursuit of the <br />regional jail concept; Emphasis was placed upon acquisition of <br />the modular jail unit through emergency purchasing procedures. <br /> <br /> In order to expedite the jail project, I encourage and <br />request your approval of the following: <br /> <br />1) <br /> <br />The purchase of one modular 3ail unit to <br />accommodate 32 inmates at a cost of $80,000 (see <br />attached cost detail).
