<br />May 25. 2010 <br /> <br />Next Steps Following Council Action: <br />. The Director will ensure that the budget action required to increase the total <br />appropriations and estimated revenues in the Behavioral Healthcare Services by $3,000 <br />is processed immediately upon adoption of the ordinance. <br /> <br />Motion by Mr. Smith, and seconded by Mr. Heretick, to adopt the following <br />ordinance, and was adopted by the following vote: <br /> <br />"ORDINANCE APPROPRIATING $3,000 IN THE FY 2009-2010 BEHAVIORAL <br />HEAL THCARE SERVICES FUND IN MONIES RECEIVED FROM THE VIRGINIA <br />DEPARTMENT OF BEHAVIORAL HEALTH AND DEVELOPMENTAL SERVICES TO <br />BE USED BY THE PORTSMOUTH DEPARTMENT OF BEHAVIORAL HEAL THCARE <br />SERVICES FOR CERTAIN INDIVIDUALS WITH INTEllECTUAL DISABILITIES." <br /> <br />Ayes: Heretick, Moody, Psi mas, Randall, Smith, Whitehurst, Holley <br />Nays: None <br /> <br />10 - 254 - Adoption of an ordinance appropriating $7,500 in the FY 2009-2010 <br />Behavioral Healthcare Services Fund in monies received from the Virginia Department <br />of Behavioral Health and Developmental Services to be used by the Portsmouth <br />Department of Behavioral Healthcare Services for Postpartum Case Management <br />Services. Vision Principle: Thriving Neighborhoods and a Sense of Community. <br /> <br />Background: <br />. The Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Services (DBHDS) <br />receive Federal Block Grant funding for women's services. Pregnant women are in <br />need of an array of services and are considered a targeted population. Substance <br />Abuse pregnant women historically do not take prelpostnatal care due to their life style. <br />Prelpostnatal counseling and case management services are highly recommended for <br />linkage to appropriate services for mother and child. Assistance is often needed to <br />ensure the newborn has a healthy development. Intensive women services are offered <br />to all women of child- bearing years in addition to pregnant women. <br /> <br />Discussion: <br />. The funding is needed to provide these designated services. <br /> <br />Financial Impact: <br />. No local match funding is required. <br /> <br />Recommended Action: <br />. Adoption of an ordinance. Vision Principle: Thriving Neighborhoods and a Sense <br />of Community. <br /> <br />Next Steps Following Council Action: <br />.
