The Portsmouth Director of General Services will file the application for <br />certification, and the clerks of court will begin assessing the additional cost once the <br />certification is received. <br /> <br />Motion by Mr. Whitehurst, and seconded by Ms. Randall, to adopt the following <br />ordinance, and was adopted by the following vote: <br /> <br />"ORDINANCE TO AMEND CHAPTER 12 OF THE CODE OF THE CITY OF <br />PORTSMOUTH, VIRGINIA (2006) BY AMENDING SECTION 12-121 AND APPENDIX <br />A THEREOF TO PERMIT THE ASSESSMENT OF AN ADDITIONAL COURT COST <br />OF $3.00 IN CERTAIN CIVIL, CRIMINAL AND TRAFFIC CASES TO BE APPLIED TO <br />THE REPLACEMENT OF THE CITY COURTHOUSES." <br /> <br />Ayes: Heretick, Moody, Psi mas, Randall, Smith, Whitehurst, Holley <br />Nays: None <br /> <br />10 - 116 - Adoption of a resolution authorizing the City Manager to execute a deed <br />and other necessary instruments to convey to the Portsmouth Redevelopment and <br />Housing Authority of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia, a parcel of land on Godwin <br />Street for the further development of Westbury. Vision Principle: Thriving <br />Neighborhoods and a Sense of Community. <br /> <br />Background: <br />. This land is approximately % of the former water department site located east of <br />Godwin Street between Columbia Street and South Street. The parcel is located <br />directly south of the existing homes along Columbia Street and will be used for <br />construction of 13 units. <br /> <br />Discussion: <br />. PRHA has demolished the former water department facilities for the City and <br />subject to City approval will landscape and develop a park on the portion of the water <br />department site remaining in City ownership <br />. This conveyance will allow PRHA to convey the City 4 parcels along South Street <br />for use in connection with the park <br />. The 13 units will be the final phase of homeownership construction under the <br />Jeffry Wilson HOPE VI grant <br /> <br />Financial Impact: <br />. The construction and sale of 13 homes on formerly tax-exempt land will add to <br />the City's tax base <br /> <br />Recommended Action: <br />. Adoption of a resolution authorizing the City Manager to execute documents to <br />convey 1.507 acres in the Westbury neighborhood to PRHA. Vision Principle: Thriving <br />Neighborhoods and a Sense of Community. <br /> <br />Next Steps Following Council Action: <br />. PRHA will work with the City Attorney's office to prepare documents to effectuate <br />the conveyance. <br /> <br />Motion by Mr. Smith, and seconded by Mr. Whitehurst, to adopt the following <br />resolution, and was adopted by the following vote: <br />
