<br />AUQust 25. 2009 <br /> <br />Next Steps Following Council Action: <br />. The Chief of Police or his designee will provide grant management and oversight. <br /> <br />Motion by Mr. Heretick, and seconded by Ms. Randall, to adopt the following <br />ordinance, and was adopted by the following vote: <br /> <br />"ORDINANCE ACCEPTING A GRANT IN THE AMOUNT OF $654,981 FROM THE <br />BUREAU OF JUSTICE ASSISTANCE OF THE U.S. DEPARTMENT OF JUSTICE <br />AND APPROPRIATING SAID FUNDS IN THE FY 2009-2010 ECONOMIC STIMULUS <br />FUND FOR USE BY THE PORTSMOUTH POLICE DEPARTMENT FOR <br />TECHNOLOGY AND EQUIPMENT." <br /> <br />Ayes: Heretick, Moody, Psi mas, Randall, Smith, Whitehurst, Holley <br />Nays: None <br /> <br />09 - 442 - Adoption of an ordinance appropriating in the FY 2009-2010 Behavioral <br />Healthcare Services Fund the sum of $875 allocated to the Portsmouth Department of <br />Behavioral Healthcare Services by the Virginia Department of Behavioral Health and <br />Developmental Services for Emergency Preparedness and Response Activities. Vision <br />Principle: Vision Principle: Thriving Neighborhoods and a Sense of Community. <br /> <br />Background: <br />. DBHDS has allocated funds to CSBs to develop terrorism and emergency <br />preparedness including training supplies, purchase services and equipment for <br />emergency response. <br /> <br />Discussion: <br />. DBHS has utilized funds in previous years to develop the Emergency <br />Preparedness plan and purchased emergency equipment for its sites of operation. <br /> <br />Financial Impact: <br />. The additional funds will expand the services being delivered. <br />. No local match funding is required. <br /> <br />Recommended Action: <br />. Adoption of an ordinance to approve the appropriation of $875.00 to conduct <br />Emergency Preparedness and Response activities. The Director of BHS will ensure the funds are utilized in an appropriate manner. <br /> <br />Motion by Ms. Randall, and seconded by Mr. Smith, to adopt the following <br />ordinance, and was adopted by the following vote: <br /> <br />"ORDINANCE APPROPRIATING IN THE FY 2009-2010 BEHAVIORAL <br />HEAL THCARE SERVICES FUND THE SUM OF $875 ALLOCATED TO THE <br />PORTSMOUTH DEPARTMENT OF BEHAVIORAL HEAL THCARE SERVICES BY <br />THE VIRGINIA DEPARTMENT OF BEHAVIORAL HEALTH AND DEVELOPMENTAL <br />SERVICES FOR EMERGENCY PREPAREDNESS AND RESPONSE ACTIVITIES." <br /> <br />Ayes: Heretick, Moody, Psi mas, Randall, Smith, Whitehurst, Holley <br />Nays: None <br /> <br />09 - 443 - Adoption of an ordinance appropriating in the FY 2009-2010 Behavioral <br />Healthcare Services Fund the sum of $16,548.03 allocated to the Portsmouth <br />Department of Behavioral Healthcare Services by the Virginia Department of Behavioral <br />Health and Developmental Services for Jail Diversion Initiatives.
