Presentation honoring Specialist Shawn Dante Sykes for his service to the citizens of <br />Portsmouth and this Nation. <br /> <br />. Proclamation presented to Reverend Rob Edward for "World Changers Week." <br /> <br />- City Manager's Report - <br /> <br />09 - 335 - Adoption of an ordinance transferring the sum of $250,000 from the FY 2008- <br />2009 City Garage Fund and appropriating said sum in the FY 2008-2009 General Fund <br />to assist in reducing the shortfall in the FY 2008-2009 General Fund. Vision Principles: <br />Lifelong Learning Community. <br /> <br />Background: <br />. Due to tough economic times resulting from reductions in the state budget and <br />revenue projections falling substantially below the FY2009 budgeted amounts, and in <br />order to present a balanced budget as required by state law, the City Garage fund <br />agreed to transfer a portion of their fuel savings for FY09 to the General Fund to assist <br />in closing the gap. <br /> <br />Discussion: <br />. It is recommended that a transfer in the amount of $250,000 be made from the <br />City Garage fund to the General Fund in order to reduce the overall shortfall. <br /> <br />Financial Impact: <br />. The source of the appropriated funds is a City Garage fund transfer from their <br />fuels budget line to the General Fund. <br /> <br />Staff Recommends: <br />. Adoption of ordinance. Vision Principles: Lifelong Learning Community. <br /> <br />Next Steps Following Council Action: <br />. The Chief Financial Officer will ensure that the budget action required to increase <br />the total appropriations in the General Fund by $250,000 be processed immediately <br />upon adoption of the ordinance. <br /> <br />Motion by Mr. Whitehurst, and seconded by Mr. Heretick, to adopt the following <br />ordinance, and was adopted by the following vote: <br /> <br />"ORDINANCE TRANSFERRING THE SUM OF $250,000 FROM THE FY 2008-2009 <br />CITY GARAGE FUND AND APPROPRIATING SAID SUM IN THE FY 2008-2009 <br />GENERAL FUND TO ASSIST IN REDUCING THE SHORTFALL IN THE FY 2008- <br />2009 GENERAL FUND." <br /> <br />Ayes: Heretick, Moody, Randall, Whitehurst, Holley <br />Nays: None <br /> <br />09 - 336 - Adoption of an ordinance to transfer the sum of $500,000 from the FY 2008- <br />2009 Risk Management Fund and to appropriate $500,000 in the FY 2008-2009 Capital <br />Improvement Fund and to transfer $300,000 from the CIP Project No. 17507, Park View <br />Acquisition, to the CIP Project No. 15907, Disposition of School Properties, in the <br />Capital Improvement Fund for the demolition of the former Hunt-Mapp School Building <br />located on Willett Drive.
