<br />June 23. 2009 <br /> <br />Next Steps Following Council Action: <br />. The MOU will be executed and regular update & progress reports will be <br />provided to City Council. <br /> <br />Motion by Mr. Whitehurst, and seconded by Ms. Randall, to adopt the following <br />resolution, and was adopted by the following vote: <br /> <br />"RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING A MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING WITH THE <br />ZUNI MARITIME FOUNDATION, INC., CONCERNING A BERTHING AGREEMENT <br />FOR THE FORMER UNITED STATES NAVY-UNITED STATES COAST GUARD <br />VESSEL "ZUNI-TAMAROA" AT THE NORTH LANDING. <br /> <br />BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia, that the <br />City Manager, acting for and on behalf of the City, is authorized and directed to execute <br />and deliver an agreement substantially the same as the attached "Memorandum of <br />Understanding for Berthing the Former United States Navy - United States Coast Guard <br />Ship "Zuni-Tamaroa," which has been approved as to form and legality by the City <br />Attorney. <br /> <br />BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Manager is further authorized to take <br />such other actions as may be reasonably necessary to implement the intent of said <br />instrument. <br /> <br />BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this resolution shall be effective upon the date <br />of its adoption." <br /> <br />Ayes: Heretick, Moody, Randall, Whitehurst, Holley <br />Nays: None <br /> <br />09 - 344 - Adoption of a resolution authorizing the City Manager to enter into a Mutual <br />Aid Agreement with the Program Director of the Regional Public Safety Navy Region <br />Mid-Atlantic for fire fighting and emergency medical services. Vision Principle: Thriving <br />Neighborhoods and a Sense of Community. <br /> <br />Background: <br />. The City has been operating under an informal mutual aid agreement for some <br />time. The purpose of this process is to formalize the agreement between the two <br />parties. <br /> <br />Discussion: <br />. A mutual aid agreement has been written, submitted and approved by the City <br />Attorney's Office. Copies of the agreement have also been submitted to the City <br />Manager's Office for review. <br />. This agreement will benefit our community and our federal partners by sharing <br />resources. Agreements like these are also recommended under the National Incident <br />Management System (NIMS). <br /> <br />Financial Impact: <br />. There is no financial impact to the City of Portsmouth <br /> <br />Staff Recommends: <br />. Adoption of a proposed resolution. Vision Principle: Thriving Neighborhoods <br />and a Sense of Community. <br /> <br />Next Steps Following Council Action: <br />.
