June 23. 2009 Next Steps Following Council Action: . The MOU will be executed and regular update & progress reports will be provided to City Council. Motion by Mr. Whitehurst, and seconded by Ms. Randall, to adopt the following resolution, and was adopted by the following vote: "RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING A MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING WITH THE ZUNI MARITIME FOUNDATION, INC., CONCERNING A BERTHING AGREEMENT FOR THE FORMER UNITED STATES NAVY-UNITED STATES COAST GUARD VESSEL "ZUNI-TAMAROA" AT THE NORTH LANDING. BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia, that the City Manager, acting for and on behalf of the City, is authorized and directed to execute and deliver an agreement substantially the same as the attached "Memorandum of Understanding for Berthing the Former United States Navy - United States Coast Guard Ship "Zuni-Tamaroa," which has been approved as to form and legality by the City Attorney. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Manager is further authorized to take such other actions as may be reasonably necessary to implement the intent of said instrument. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this resolution shall be effective upon the date of its adoption." Ayes: Heretick, Moody, Randall, Whitehurst, Holley Nays: None 09 - 344 - Adoption of a resolution authorizing the City Manager to enter into a Mutual Aid Agreement with the Program Director of the Regional Public Safety Navy Region Mid-Atlantic for fire fighting and emergency medical services. Vision Principle: Thriving Neighborhoods and a Sense of Community. Background: . The City has been operating under an informal mutual aid agreement for some time. The purpose of this process is to formalize the agreement between the two parties. Discussion: . A mutual aid agreement has been written, submitted and approved by the City Attorney's Office. Copies of the agreement have also been submitted to the City Manager's Office for review. . This agreement will benefit our community and our federal partners by sharing resources. Agreements like these are also recommended under the National Incident Management System (NIMS). Financial Impact: . There is no financial impact to the City of Portsmouth Staff Recommends: .
