<br />January 27.2009 <br /> <br />Discussion: <br />. There is a $3,601 local match required that is being provided from Juvenile Court <br />Services Outreach funds. <br /> <br />Staff Recommends: <br />Adoption of ordinance. Vision Principle: Thriving Neighborhoods and a Sense of <br />Community. <br /> <br />Next Steps: <br />. Project Director to provide project management and oversight. <br /> <br />Motion by Mr. Heretick, and seconded by Ms. Randall, to adopt the following <br />ordinance, and was adopted by the following vote: <br /> <br />"ORDINANCE ACCEPTING A GRANT IN THE AMOUNT OF $36,007 FROM THE <br />VIRGINIA DEPARTMENT OF CRIMINAL JUSTICE SERVICES AND <br />APPROPRIATING SAID AMOUNT IN THE FY 2008-2009 GRANTS FUND TO <br />SUPPORT THE JUVENILE ACCOUNTABILITY BLOCK GRANT VIOLATION <br />INTERVENTION PROGRAM." <br /> <br />Ayes: Heretick, Psi mas, Randall, Smith, Whitehurst, Holley <br />Nays: None <br /> <br />09 - 59 - Adoption of an ordinance accepting a grant in the amount of $1,000 from the <br />Virginia Department of Fire Programs and appropriating said amount in the FY 2008- <br />2009 General Fund Operating Budget for the enhancement of the fire department's <br />incident reporting system. Vision Principle: Thriving Neighborhoods and a Sense of <br />Community. <br /> <br />Background: <br />. The City of Portsmouth has been awarded funds in the amount of $1,000 from <br />the VFIRS Hardware Grant, from the Commonwealth's Fire Programs Fund for <br />improving organizations reporting capabilities. <br /> <br />Discussion: <br />. The city currently reports all incidents in accordance with the National Fire <br />Incident Reporting System (NFIRS). This funding will assist with enhancing the fire <br />departments reporting capability. <br /> <br />Financial Impact: <br />. There is no City cash match required for this grant. <br /> <br />Staff Recommends: <br />Adoption of proposed ordinance. Vision Principle: Thriving Neighborhoods and a <br />Sense of Community. <br /> <br />Next Steps Following Council Action: <br />. Purchase software/hardware in support of NFIRS. <br /> <br />Motion by Ms. Psimas, and seconded by Mr. Smith, to adopt the following <br />ordinance, and was adopted by the following vote: <br /> <br />"ORDINANCE ACCEPTING A GRANT IN THE AMOUNT OF $1,000 FROM THE <br />VIRGINIA DEPARTMENT OF FIRE PROGRAMS AND APPROPRIATING SAID <br />AMOUNT IN THE FY 2008-2009 GRANTS FUND FOR ENHANCEMENT OF THE <br />FIRE DEPARTMENT'S INCIDENT REPORTING SYSTEM." <br /> <br />Ayes: Heretick, Psi mas, Randall, Smith, Whitehurst, Holley <br />Nays: None <br />
