Weste~ .Fre~way and the Midtown Tunnel. In <br />con]unc :ion with tnis action, immediate i,mprovements to the Port <br />Norfol~ 9eighborhood were also approved which include t~o traffic <br />signal~ and improvements to Virginia Avenue. The traff c signals <br />will bc installed at Mount Vernon Avenue and Bayvlew Bo.~levard, <br />and We~ ley Avenue and Chautauqua Avenue <br /> <br /> Tl.e Virginia Department of Transportation has. ag~e,~d to <br />permit the City to complete the work and be reim~U'rsed ]~y the <br />State. The improvements to Virginia Avenue will requi're a <br />City/Si ate a~reement. However, to simplify the no~rma~ 3~eview <br />proces.~ for the traffic signal installation, VDOT has requested <br />that we adopt the attached resolution. The resolution will allow <br />the City to complete the installation and receive reimbursement <br />for pr(jec~-costs.. Also,. funds 'were prevlously--~prop~riated for <br />the' treffl~ signals.~ ' An add'~tlo~&t appropriati~on ofS31,500 from <br />the ua~ ltal Improvements Fuhd-(CIF) ,will be required ~or the <br />street i~provements to acconLmodate the new signals. <br /> <br /> T~ e Director of Public Works recommends approval of the <br />re§otu! iSn and appropriation of $3'1,500. I concur with his <br />recomm~nQation. This appropriation, since it is reimb'u~sable from <br />VDOT, ~ill not affect the balance in the Capital ImprOvements <br />Fund."
