June 25, 1991 <br /> <br />- REPORTS FROM THE CITY MANAGER <br /> <br /> 91-2~22 Letter from the City Manager recommending <br />the following ordinance and resolution pertaining to the <br />Avenue -iVirginia Avenue connector in Port Norfolk: <br /> <br /> "In December of 1990 the Virginia Transportation Bc <br />to the terms and conditions negotiated with the City for <br />completion of the Western Freeway and its ultimate conne <br />the Midtown Tunnel. As part of this agreement the State <br />certain improvements to the Port Norfolk area to facilil <br />flow of tiraffic. <br /> <br /> The ~purpose of the proposed Council action is to a! <br />agreement with the Virginia Department of Hiahwavs which <br />allow us ~to complete the design and construction of impr <br />to Vlrgln~la Avenue. The Department of Transportation wi <br />reimburse~ us for 100% of the costs incurred. This proje <br />will relocate Virginia Avenue between Woodrow Street and <br />Street wiill provide for better access for truck traffic <br />from the ~Portsmouth Marine Terminal. <br /> <br /> The Director of Public Works recommends approval o] <br />agreement: and appropriation of $50,000 to complete the <br />design ~o~k.
