<br />July 22. 2008 <br /> <br />Ayes: Heretick, Moody, Psi mas, Randall, Smith, Whitehurst, Holley <br />Nays: None <br /> <br />08 - 339 - Adoption of an ordinance accepting a grant in the amount of $10,542 from the <br />Business Consortium for the Arts and appropriating said sum in the FY 2008-2009 <br />Grants Fund for the Outdoor Sculpture Competition and Exhibition at the Courthouse <br />Galleries. Vision Principle: Lifelong Learning Community. <br /> <br />Background: <br />. Each year the Courthouse Galleries applies to the Business Consortium for Arts <br />Support for a grant to help support exhibitions and programming. <br /> <br />Discussion: <br />. The Courthouse Galleries will use the funds for the development, installation and <br />programming for the Outdoor Sculpture Competition and Exhibition. <br />. 2009 will be the fourth year of this exhibition. <br />. The exhibition will be in the courtyard of the Courthouse Galleries. <br />. The exhibition will open on February 6,2009 with a reception and will run through <br />October 11, 2009. <br /> <br />Financial Impact: <br />. No local cash match is required. <br /> <br />Staff Recommends: <br />Adoption of ordinance. Vision Principle Advanced: Lifelong Learning Community. <br /> <br />Next Steps Following Council Action: <br />. Pending approval, the Director of Museums and the Curator of the Courthouse <br />Galleries will ensure that the funds are utilized for the development, installation and <br />programming for the Outdoor Sculpture Competition and Exhibition. <br /> <br />Motion by Ms. Psi mas, and seconded by Mr. Heretick, to adopt the following <br />ordinance, and was adopted by the following vote: <br /> <br />"ORDINANCE ACCEPTING A GRANT IN THE AMOUNT OF $10,542 FROM THE <br />BUSINESS CONSORTIUM FOR THE ARTS AND APPROPRIATING SAID SUM IN <br />THE FY 2008-2009 GRANTS FUND FOR THE OUTDOOR SCULPTURE <br />COMPETITION AND EXHIBITION AT THE COURTHOUSE GALLERIES." <br /> <br />Ayes: Heretick, Moody, Psi mas, Randall, Smith, Whitehurst, Holley <br />Nays: None <br /> <br />08 - 340 - Adoption of an ordinance accepting a grant in the amount of $4,440 from the <br />Virginia Commission for the Arts and appropriating said sum in the 2008-2009 Grants <br />Fund for FY 2009 for the Outdoor Sculpture Competition and Exhibition at the <br />Courthouse Galleries. Vision Principle: Lifelong Learning Community. <br /> <br />Background: <br />. The Courthouse Galleries has received funds from the Virginia Commission for <br />the Arts Project Grant category. <br />. The grant is in support of the Outdoor Sculpture Competition and Exhibition in <br />the courtyard of the Courthouse Galleries. <br />. This will be the fourth year of this annual exhibition. <br />
