Verle Weiss, 201 North Street, gave an overview of the grant awarding process to <br />qualified applicants and asked that City Council support funding for the Children's <br />Museum. <br /> <br />4. Mark Geduldig-Yatrofsky, 363 Middle Street, spoke in support of construction of new <br />schools and a new Behavioral Healthcare Services building. He also suggested that <br />the City Council find a buyer for the Middle Street garage and the Portsmouth <br />Renaissance Hotel and Conference Center which would take these properties off the <br />tax rolls. <br /> <br />(F) Public hearing on the City's Operating Budget for Fiscal Year <br />ending June 30, 2009. <br /> <br />1. George Watkins, 4301 Hatton Point Road, spoke in support of the renovation of the <br />Children's Museum and asked for continued support in this endeavor. <br /> <br />2. James Bridgeford, 801 Crawford Street, 3rd Floor, spoke in support of funding for <br />teachers salaries. <br /> <br />3. Linda Ridenour, 801 Crawford Street, 3rd Floor, spoke in opposition to the cutting of <br />funds to the school and asked for continued funding for teachers salaries. <br /> <br />4. Daphne Waring-Sorrell, 212 Woodstock Street, spoke in opposition to the cutting of <br />funds to the school system. <br /> <br />5. Jeanne Larcombe, 410 Crawford Street, voiced her concern that the hiring freeze will <br />affect services at the new Churchland Library. <br /> <br />6. Beverly Gaddis, 2416 Lakewood Lane, spoke in opposition to the Cost of Living <br />Adjustments for retirees. <br /> <br />7. Steve Johnson, 3709 Forestal Lane, thanked City Council for past funding to the <br />Endependence Center and asked for continued funding in the future. <br /> <br />8. Jim Ellis, 805 Arnold Palmer Drive, spoke in opposition to the operating budget. <br /> <br />9. Garland Hale, 117 Shore Drive, provided a listing of projects and asked if City <br />Councilor Management could provide information regarding financial commitments <br />the City has made to these projects. <br /> <br />10. Kathalene Rogers, 900 County Street, APT 403, informed City Council of how the <br />Endependence Center has empowered her and asked for continued funding in the <br />future. <br /> <br />11. Jeffery Pennington, 302 Sandpiper Drive, spoke in opposition to the cutting of funds <br />to the school system and asked for continued funding for teacher salaries. <br /> <br />12. Ken Woolard, 462 B Washington Street, asked that City Council continue funding for <br />the Portsmouth Community Concerts. <br /> <br />13. Diane Braun, 109 Tyler Crescent, spoke in opposition to the cutting of funds to the <br />school system and asked for continued funding for teacher salaries. <br /> <br />14. Lloyd Beasley, 3186 Reese Drive, spoke in opposition to the proposed 13th Check <br />for Portsmouth retirees. <br />
