March 24, i992 Motion of Mr.. King and seconded by Mr. Hawks, the following ordinance was adopted, and by the following vote: Ayes: Nays: "AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND THE CODE OF THE CITY OF PORTSMOUTH, VIRGINIA, 1988, BY REPEALING ARTICLE XXIV OF CHAPTER 2 THEREOF, PERTAINING TO THE JAIL ADVISORY BOARD FOR THE CITY OE PORTSMOUTH, VIRGINIA, AND BY ADDING SECTION 2-793 OF ARTICLE XXVI OF CHAPTER 2 AS IT PERTAINS TO THE COMMUNITY CORRECTIONS RESOURCES BOARD." Clemons, Corprew, Epperson, King, Hawks, Williams-, Webb None 92-109 - Lette~ from the City Manager recommending adoption of a resolution requesting the Virginia Department of Transportation to approve certain additions and changes in the functional classification of streets in the City of Portsmouth for the purpose of calculating maintenance payments. "Each year.the City of Portsmouth submits to the Virginia Department of Transportation a list of additions, deletions and changes to the streets eligible for maintenance payments under the State Functional Classification System as set forth in Section 33.1-41.1 of the Code. These roadway sections are located primarily in new subdivisions where the streets were recently completed by the developers. A raquirement by the Virginia Department of Transportation is that these lists be accompanied by a City Council Resolution. I, therefore, recommend your approval of the attached resolution to accompany our submission for highway maintenance payments." Motion of Mr. Hawks and seconded by Mr. Epperson, the following resolution was adopted, and by the following vote: "A RESOLUTION REQUESTING THE VIRGINIA DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATIQN TO APPROVE CERTAIN ADDITIONS AND CHANGES IN FUNCTIONAL CLASSIFICATION OF STREETS IN THE CITY OF PORTSMOUTH FOR THE PURPOSE OF CALCULATING MAINTENANCE PAYMENTS. B~EREAS, the regulations of the Virginia Department of Transportation adopted pursuant to [31.1-41.1, Code of Virginia, require that the City submit a request for changes mileage additions and functional classification of streets which occurred during the fiscal year; and WHEREAS, the following described changes in mileage have occurred in the City of Portsmouth for the reasons specified. NOWt THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia, that the Virginia Department of Transportation be requested to approve the following additions and changes in functional classification for streets in the City of Pertsmouth for the purpose of calculating maintenance payments: A. ADDITIONS 1. Wyatt Drive from Coast Guard Road to Sunnyside Avenue.. 2. Wyatt Drive from Sunnyside Avenue to West Norfolk Road. 3. Gall Court from West Ncrfolk Road to .05 N of West Ncrfolk Road.
