June 23, 1992 <br /> <br />397 <br /> <br />92-204 Letter from the City Manager recommending adoption of an <br />Qrdinance tolamend Chapter 24 of the code of the City of <br />Portsmouth, Virginia, 1988, by enacting Section 24-20 pertaining <br />to Going Ou~ of Business Sales. <br /> "The 19~2 General Assembly of Virginia enacted a change in <br />the law pertaining to "Going Out of Business Sales." Since these <br />requirements~are different from those previously enacted by the <br />City of POrtSmouth, an ordinance enactment and amendment are <br />necessary to comply with the new requirements under State law. <br />The proposed ordinance will change the number of additional <br />special sale ~ermits which may be granted pertaining to this type <br />of sale. <br /> <br /> I respe< ~fully request and recommend your approval of this <br />ordinance." <br /> <br /> Motion ¢.f Mr. Epperson, seconded by Mr. King, the following <br />ordinance wa~ adopted on first and final reading and by the <br />following vote <br /> <br /> "AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND CHAPTER 24 OF THE CODE OF THE CITY OF <br />PORTSMOUTH, ~IRGINIA, 1989, BY ENACTING SECTION 24-20 PERTAINING <br />TO GOING OUT OF BUSINESS SALES. <br /> <br />Ayes: Clemons, Corprew, Epperson, Hawks, King, Williams, Webb <br />Nays: None ~ <br />92-205 Letter from the City Manager recommending adoption of an <br />ordinance to,amend Chapter 35 of the code of the City of <br />Portsmouth, ~irginia, 1988, by amending Sections 35-12 (a) and <br />35-500 thereof, pertaining to taxation. <br /> "The 19~2 General Assembly of Virginia enacted several laws <br />pertaining t9 loCal taxes. Since these requirements do not <br />coincide wit~ the requirements presently listed in oUr City Code, <br />an ordinance Ichange is necessary to comply with this new State <br />law. The proposed ordinance will <br />~e's notification requirements when the inspecting <br />rmines that a building is dangerous and also increase <br />~nalty which the court may impose on a code <br /> <br /> <br />
