The full implementation of the USDA Summer Food Program throughout the <br />Summer of 2007. <br /> <br />Motion by Mr. Heretick, and seconded by Ms. Randall, to adopt the following <br />ordinance, and was adopted by the following vote: <br /> <br />"ORDINANCE APPROPRIATING IN THE FY 2006-2007 GRANTS FUND A GRANT IN <br />THE AMOUNT OF $850,538.95 RECEIVED BY THE DEPARTMENT OF PARKS, <br />RECREATION, AND LEISURE SERVICES FROM THE UNITED STATES <br />DEPARTMENT OF AGRICULTURE." <br /> <br />Ayes: Heretick, Moody, Psi mas, Randall, D. Smith, R. Smith, Holley <br />Nays: None <br /> <br />07 - 282 - Adoption of an ordinance appropriating in the FY 2006-2007 Behavioral <br />Healthcare Services Fund Operating Budget an allocation in the amount of $2,250 <br />received from the Virginia Department of Mental Health, Mental Retardation and <br />Substance Abuse Services. Vision Principle: Thriving Neighborhoods and a Sense of <br />Community. <br /> <br />Background: <br />. The Department of Mental Health, Mental Retardation, and Substance Abuse <br />Services (DMHMRSAS) will pay up to $750 per individual (for three individuals) to cover <br />a portion of the cost incurred to obtain guardianship. <br /> <br />Discussion: <br />. DMHMRSAS is committed to providing funds and/or services that will increase <br />individuals' ability to reside in the community and/or increase their ability to be <br />discharged from institutions and into community placements. <br />. Without a guardian, some individuals with Mental Retardation are at risk of <br />institutionalization. Others, who are residing in institutions, may not be able to move into <br />the community until guardianship is obtained. <br /> <br />Financial Impact: <br />. There is no financial impact to the City. <br /> <br />Staff Recommends: <br />Adoption of proposed ordinance.
