Motion by Mr. Heretick, and seconded by Ms. Randall, to adopt the following ordinance, and was adopted by the following vote: "ORDINANCE APPROPRIATING IN THE FY 2006-2007 GRANTS FUND A GRANT IN THE AMOUNT OF $850,538.95 RECEIVED BY THE DEPARTMENT OF PARKS, RECREATION, AND LEISURE SERVICES FROM THE UNITED STATES DEPARTMENT OF AGRICULTURE." Ayes: Heretick, Moody, Psi mas, Randall, D. Smith, R. Smith, Holley Nays: None 07 - 282 - Adoption of an ordinance appropriating in the FY 2006-2007 Behavioral Healthcare Services Fund Operating Budget an allocation in the amount of $2,250 received from the Virginia Department of Mental Health, Mental Retardation and Substance Abuse Services. The Department of Mental Health, Mental Retardation, and Substance Abuse Services (DMHMRSAS) will pay up to $750 per individual (for three individuals) to cover a portion of the cost incurred to obtain guardianship. Discussion: . DMHMRSAS is committed to providing funds and/or services that will increase individuals' ability to reside in the community and/or increase their ability to be discharged from institutions and into community placements. . Without a guardian, some individuals with Mental Retardation are at risk of institutionalization. Others, who are residing in institutions, may not be able to move into the community until guardianship is obtained. Financial Impact: . There is no financial impact to the City.
