"The Director of Public Utilities is recommending:-the' appropriation of $114,584 from the Public utility Capital Improvements Fund to install a new pump and to refurbish~ an existing water pump at the City's Lake Kilby Water Treatment Plant. This work wil~l allow for increases in water~ use-for Portsmouth industrial growth as well as contractual commitments with the City of Chesapeake and increased reliability to the City's water B'ystem~ ~s' a whole. ' Bids wer~ec:ently receive:d~ I' from contractors. The lowest responsible bid for this project was from Pump 'Engineer~fhg Sales an~ ~rvlce for $1~4,584. I concur with this recommendati~on:and~ seek your[ approval of the enclosed ordinance to award the contract to Pump Engineering Sales-and: Service. Additionally, in accordance with your direction to have two readings on~ appropriations,- I recommend your deferr:al of this item '~ntil the'meeting of October 13, ~1992. With your approval of this item, the balance in the Public utility : Capital Improvements Fund will be $7,190,811."
