November 24, 1992 92-401 - Letter from the City Manager recommending adoption of an ordinance to close a portion of West Road. "The City of Portsmouth has made application to close a portion of West Road for the widening of High Stree%. The viewers previously appointed by Council have recommended approval of the application. The Planning Commission concurs in this recommendation. I, therefore, recommend adoption of the ordinance closing a portion of West Road." Motion of Mr. King and seconded by Mr. Griffin, the following ordinance was adopted and by the following vote: "AN ORDINANCE CLOSING A PORTION OF WEST ROAD." Ayes: Clemons, Epperson, Griffin, Hawks, King, Pitts Webb Nays: None ' 92-402 Letter from the City Manager recommending adoption of an ordinance to close a portion of Glasgow Street. "The City of Portsmouth has made application ~o close a portion of Glasgow Street for expansion of the water tower site at Maryview Medical Center. The viewers previously appointed by Council have recommended approval of the application. The Planning Commission concurs in this recommendation. Motion of Mr. King and seconded by Mr. Epperson, the following ordinance was adopted and by the following vote: "AN ORDINANCE CLOSING A PORTION OF GLASGOW STREET." Ayes: Clemons, Epperson, Griffin, Hawks, King, Pitts, Webb Nays: None 92~03 - Letter from the City Manager recommending adoption of mo~lon to acc~p~ conveyance of the Pinners Point Plant and site Hampton Roads Sanitation District (HRSD) back to the City of Portsmouth. a "On July 1, 1988, Portsmouth joined the Hampton Roads Sanitation District, and Portsmouth sold its Pinners Point Wastewater Treatment Plant to HRSD. A provision in the sales contract provided that the plant and its 10 acres of property would revert back to Portsmouth's ownership should HRSD ever stop treating sewage at the site. With the opening of its Virginia Initiative Plant at Lambert's Point in Norfolk, HRSD has declared the Pinners Point Plant surplus and will deed this property back to the City a~ no cost. As the PUblic Utilities Fund was paid for its investment in the plant by HRSD, the plant and its property will become City property. Th9 10 acre parcel and plant within the Portsmouth Marine Terminal will be marketed through the City's Economic Development Department. I hereby recommend that you approve a motion to accept the conveyance of the Pinners Point Plant from HRSD."
