<br /> Motion of Mr. Griffin and seconded by Mr. Pitts, the
<br />following resolution was adopted and by the following vote:
<br /> "A RESOLUTION APPROVING AMENDMENT NO. 22 TO THE CRAWFORD
<br />CONSERVATION AND REDEVELOPMENT PLAN FOR THE CRAWFORD URBAN
<br />RENEWAL PROJ~ECT.
<br /> WHERE~S,~ this Council by resolution adopted Augus't 1,
<br />1967, approved a Conservation and ~Redevetopment Plan for the
<br />Crawford Urban Renewal Project, Portsmouth, Virginia (Plan);
<br />and
<br /> WHEREAS, there has been presented to this body for
<br />consideration and approval, a copy of an amended Plan for the
<br />project area, which Plan consists of 14 pages and 4 exhibits
<br />(Amendment No. 22); and
<br /> WHEREAS, Amendment No. 22 proposes to designate additional
<br /> properties as "TO Be Acquired"; and
<br /> WHEREAS, this C°uncil is cognizant of the conditiOns that
<br /> are imposed bY the provisions of the Housing and Community
<br /> Development Act of 1974, as amended, including those
<br /> prohibiting discrimination because of race~ age, color,
<br /> religion, familial status, handicap, sex or national origin;
<br /> and
<br />
<br /> WHEREAS, in the judgment
<br />interest of the City and its
<br />
<br />of this Council, it is in the
<br />inhabitants that the said
<br />
<br />Amendment be approved.
<br />
<br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by
<br />of Portsmouth, Virginia:
<br />
<br />the Council of the City
<br />
<br />That regarding Amendment No. 22, it is hereby found:
<br /> (a) That ~the objectives of the Crawford Urban Renewal
<br />
<br />Project, Portsmouth, Virginia, can be better achieved by the
<br />adoption of said Amendment to the Plan.
<br />
<br /> (b) That Amendment No. 22 meets the requirements of
<br />a plan for an urban renewal project pursuant to Chapter 1 of
<br />Title 36 of the Code of Virginia, 1950, as amended.
<br /> 2. That Amendment No. 22, having been duly reviewed and
<br />considered, is hereby approved and adopted and the City Clerk
<br />is hereby directed to file a copy of said Amendment with the
<br />minutes of this meeting."

<br /> C. Ordina'nce to appropriate $2,495,000 from the Community
<br /> Development Fund for the 1993 Community Development Program.
<br /> Motion of Mr. Hawks and seconded by Mr. Griffin, the
<br /> following ordinance was adopted and by the following vote:
<br /> "AN ORDINANCE TO APPROPRIATE $2,495,000.00 FROM THE
<br /> COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT FUND FOR THE 1993 COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT
<br /> PROGRAM.
