NoVember 24, 1992 Capital Projects Material Purchases Miscellaneous Improvements to the Water Plant Miscellaneous Improvements & Extensions, Water System Miscellaneous Improvements & Extensions, Sewer System The funds requested! this yea~ will again fund a diverse. array of projects including fire hydrant and large meter replacements; sewer line replacements in neighborhoods and the replacement of pumps in one of the Department!s 60 sewage pump stations; s~r~ctural repairs to the oldest building at the Lake Kilby Water Treatment Plant, as well as tke purchase of the materials necessary to accomplish these tasks. A detailed breakdown of ~thes~ projects is at~ached. The Director of p~blic Utilities has requested that these funds be appropriated at this time so that these projects may be planned and begun as soon as possible. I concur with this request and recommend that the $285,650 for these foUr interrelated projects be appropriated. With your approval of this item, the balance in the Public Utility Capital Improvements Fund will be $6,905,161." Motion of Mr. Epperson and seconded by Mr. King, the following ordinance was adopted and by the following vote: "AN ORDINANCE TO APPROPRIATE $285,650.00 FROM THE PUBLIC UTILITY CAPITAL IMPROVEMENTS FUND FOR THE RURCHASES OF MATERIALS FOR CAPITAL PROJECTS AND FOR CAPITAL IMPROVEMENTS AND EXTENSIONS TO THE WATER AND SEWER SYSTEMS. Ayes: Clemons, Epperson, Griffin, Hawks, King, Pitts, Webb Nays: None 92-399 - Letter from the City Manager~irecommending adoption of an ordinance to appropriate $100,000 from the Capital Improvement Plan for renovation costs associated with the NSU/ODU Tri-Citie~s Graduate Centex "With your adoption of the 1992-93 Capital Improvement Program, you authorized the funds to renovate Cradock High School thereby permitting the NSU-ODU Tri-Cities Graduate Center to be established. While some work does continue, much of the project has been conducted utilizing resources in ~he General Fund. with %his appropriation ordinance, I am reCommending that you approve $100,000 to defray the costs associated with this project, with your approval, the balance in the Capital Improvements Fund will be $13,810,039." Motion of Mr. Griffin and seconded by Mr. Clemons, the following ordinance was adopted and by the following vote: "AN ORDINANCE TO APPROPRIATE $100,000.00 FROM THE CAPITAL IMPROVEMENTS FUND FOR RENOVATION COSTS AT THE NSU/ODU TRI-CITIES CENTER." Ayes: Clemons; Epperson, Griffin, Hawks, King, PittS, Webb Nays: None 92-400 Letter from the City Manager recommending adoption of the following ordinance and resolutions pertaining to the proposed 1993 Cormmunity Development Block Grant Program.
