Smith <br /> <br />07 - 167 - Adoption of an ordinance accepting a grant in the amount of $1,000 from <br />Wal-Mart Stores Inc. and appropriating said amount in the FY 2006-2007 Grants Fund <br />Budget for use by the Department of Behavioral Healthcare Services for Opportunity <br />House programs. Vision Principle: Thriving Neighborhoods and a Sense of <br />Community. <br /> <br />Background: <br />. In our efforts to help persons in recovery from mental illness, the program offers <br />community activities, educational events, psycho educational modules, and participation <br />in state and national conference. <br /> <br />Discussion: <br />. Opportunity House will utilize this grant funding to help finance community re- <br />integration programs and activities. <br /> <br />Financial Impact: <br />. There is no financial impact to the City. <br /> <br />Staff Recommends: <br />Adoption of proposed ordinance. Vision Principle: Thriving Neighborhoods and a <br />Sense of Community. <br /> <br />Next Steps Following Council Action: <br />. The Program Administrator of Opportunity House will ensure the funds are <br />utilized in an appropriate manner. <br /> <br />Motion by Mr. Heretick, and seconded by Ms. Randall, to adopt the following <br />ordinance, and was adopted by the following vote: <br /> <br />"ORDINANCE ACCEPTING A GRANT IN THE AMOUNT OF $1,000 FROM WAL- <br />MART STORES, INC., AND APPROPRIATING SAID AMOUNT IN THE FY 2006-2007 <br />GRANTS FUND BUDGET FOR USE BY THE DEPARTMENT OF BEHAVIORAL <br />HEAL THCARE SERVICES FOR OPPORTUNITY HOUSE PROGRAMS." <br /> <br />Ayes: Heretick, Moody, Psi mas, Randall, Holley <br />Nays: None <br />Absent at time of the vote: D. Smith <br /> <br />07 - 168 - Adoption of an ordinance appropriating an allocation of $3,500 from the <br />Virginia Department of Mental Health, Mental Retardation and Substance Abuse <br />Services in the FY 2006-2007 Behavioral Healthcare Services Fund Operating Budget. <br />Vision Principle: Thriving Neighborhoods and a Sense of Community. <br /> <br />Background: <br />. The Virginia Department of Mental Health, Mental Retardation and Substance <br />Abuse Services (DMHMRSAS) provides funds on an annual basis to all Community <br />Services Boards including BHS to serve persons found Not Guilty by Reason of Insanity <br />(NGRI) who have been discharged into the community from a state institution. <br /> <br />Discussion: <br />. The Discharge Assistance funds are utilized for the ongoing management of <br />acquittees in the community to ensure compliance with treatment and court ordered <br />activities. <br />
