Smith 07 - 167 - Adoption of an ordinance accepting a grant in the amount of $1,000 from Wal-Mart Stores Inc. and appropriating said amount in the FY 2006-2007 Grants Fund Budget for use by the Department of Behavioral Healthcare Services for Opportunity House programs. Vision Principle: Thriving Neighborhoods and a Sense of Community. Background: . In our efforts to help persons in recovery from mental illness, the program offers community activities, educational events, psycho educational modules, and participation in state and national conference. Discussion: . Opportunity House will utilize this grant funding to help finance community re- integration programs and activities. Financial Impact: . There is no financial impact to the City. Staff Recommends: Adoption of proposed ordinance. Vision Principle: Thriving Neighborhoods and a Sense of Community. Next Steps Following Council Action: . The Program Administrator of Opportunity House will ensure the funds are utilized in an appropriate manner. Motion by Mr. Heretick, and seconded by Ms. Randall, to adopt the following ordinance, and was adopted by the following vote: "ORDINANCE ACCEPTING A GRANT IN THE AMOUNT OF $1,000 FROM WAL- MART STORES, INC., AND APPROPRIATING SAID AMOUNT IN THE FY 2006-2007 GRANTS FUND BUDGET FOR USE BY THE DEPARTMENT OF BEHAVIORAL HEAL THCARE SERVICES FOR OPPORTUNITY HOUSE PROGRAMS." Smith 07 - 168 - Adoption of an ordinance appropriating an allocation of $3,500 from the Virginia Department of Mental Health, Mental Retardation and Substance Abuse Services in the FY 2006-2007 Behavioral Healthcare Services Fund Operating Budget. Vision Principle: Thriving Neighborhoods and a Sense of Community. Background: . The Virginia Department of Mental Health, Mental Retardation and Substance Abuse Services (DMHMRSAS) provides funds on an annual basis to all Community Services Boards including BHS to serve persons found Not Guilty by Reason of Insanity (NGRI) who have been discharged into the community from a state institution. Discussion: . The Discharge Assistance funds are utilized for the ongoing management of acquittees in the community to ensure compliance with treatment and court ordered activities.
