The financial impact to the city as a result of this proposal will be that $1,000,000 <br />will be required as matching funds from the city's Capital Improvements Program in FY <br />2007. <br /> <br />Recommended Action: <br />Adoption of the proposed resolution. Preparation of the required application, plans, and total scope to VDOT to obtain <br />approval of the proposed project as a locally administered project in the VDOT's Six <br />Year Plan. <br /> <br />Motion by Mr. Heretick, and seconded by Mr. D. Smith, to adopt the following <br />resolution, and was adopted by the following vote: <br /> <br />"RESOLUTION REQUESTING ALLOCATION OF FUNDS FROM THE VIRGINIA <br />DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION FISCAL YEAR 2006-2007 REVENUE <br />SHARING PROGRAM FOR STREET AND INFRASTRUCTURE IMPROVEMENTS AT <br />THE PROPOSED TIDEWATER COMMUNITY COLLEGE CAMPUS IN <br />PORTSMOUTH. <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Council of the City of Portsmouth desires to submit an <br />application for an allocation of funds of up to $1,000,000 through the Virginia <br />Department of Transportation Fiscal Year 2006-2007 Revenue Sharing Program; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, these funds are requested to fund improvements for street and <br />infrastructure improvements at the proposed Tidewater Community College Campus in <br />the Victory Commerce Park area of Portsmouth, improvements estimated to have a <br />total cost of $12,000,000. <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of <br />Portsmouth hereby expresses its support for this application for an allocation of <br />$1,000,000 through the Virginia Department of Transportation Revenue Sharing <br />Program." <br /> <br />Ayes: Heretick, Moody, Psi mas, Randall, D. Smith, Holley <br />Nays: None <br /> <br />06 - 548 - Adoption of a resolution requesting allocation of funds from the Virginia <br />Department of Transportation Fiscal Year 2006-2007 Revenue Sharing Program for <br />street and infrastructure improvements to Cavalier Boulevard and McLean Street in the <br />Portsmouth Commerce Park. Vision Principles: A Robust and Prospering Economy, <br />Lifelong Learning Community, and Thriving Neighborhoods and a Sense of Community. <br /> <br />Background: <br />. The Commonwealth Transportation Board's (CTB) revenue sharing program has <br />been continued for this year but at a reduced level of funding of $15 million statewide. <br />. The program was expanded last year by the CTB to include the urban <br />municipalities and the maximum amount of funds available per locality was increased to <br />$1,000,000 on a one to one matching basis. <br />. Proposed requests for these funds must be submitted to the District VDOT office <br />by December 22, 2006. <br />
