The contract <br />would be for three years with a renewal option of two years <br />subject to negotiation of a satisfacEory price for the <br />additional two years. <br /> <br /> The Finance Commission members, coupled with City and <br />School Board staff, have followed the procedures required for <br />the selection of professional services under the provisions of <br />City and State code. The procedure was monitored by the City's <br />Purchasing Agent and has been deemed to be in compliance with <br />the requirements for professional services. <br /> <br /> I concur with the Municipal Finance Commission's <br />recommendation and recommend approval of a motion to award <br />contract to KPMG Peat Marwick." <br /> <br />the <br /> <br /> Motion of Mr. Clemons and seconded by Mr. King, the <br />recommendation of a motion to award a contract to KPMG Peat <br />Marwick as the City auditors was adopted and by the following <br />vote: <br /> <br />Ayes: Clemons, Epperson, Griffin, Hawks, King, Pitts, Webb <br />None: None <br /> <br /> 93-210 Letter from the City Manager recommending adoption <br />of a motion to transfer $77,162 from the Grants Contingency <br />Account for the 1993 Summer Breakfast and Lunch Program as <br />awarded by the United States Department of Agriculture. <br /> <br /> "The Department of Parks and Recreation is applying for <br />funds from the United States Department of Agriculture, to <br />provide free, nutritious meals during the summer~ to youths <br />residing in low income communities in the City. The request is <br />for $77,162 in federal funds to serve 1,650 meals per day for <br />30 days. A total of 775 breakfasts and 875 lunches, will be <br />served at eight sites throughout the City. All sites are <br />located in communities where more than 85% of the youth are <br />eligible for free meals. No local~imoney is required by the <br />grant. <br /> <br /> The program has operated annually for more than 20 years <br />and is an important part of the successful Summer Fun-n-Sun <br />Community Recreation Program. The program offers nutritious <br />meals and promotes self-awareness, cultural and educational <br />group activities for all participants. <br /> <br /> <br />
