The
CIP contains a related project (Project ~936- Chautauqua Avenue
Water Main Improvements) which is the extension of the existing
16" water main located on Chautauqua Avenue to connect to the
new tank. When the City purchased the tank site, it obtained a
15 foot wide easement from the Portsmouth Port and Industrial
Commission (PPIC) for the installation of this water main
extension.

This water ma~n extension along with necessary pavement
patching and storm drain p~pe relocation will be accomplished
by the Public Utilities construction forces. The estimate
prepared by the Director of Public Utilities for this project
is $51,073. The Director recommends the appropriation of
$56,000 for the project which would include a contingency
amount of $4,927 or 9.6%.

I concur with this recommendation. With your approval of
this item, the balance in the Public Utility Capital
Improvements Fund will be $2,023,223."

Motion of Mr. Epperson, and seconded by Mr. King, to adopt
the following ordinance and by the following vote:

"AN ORDINANCE TO APPROPRIATE $56,000.00 FROM THE PUBLIC
UTILITY CAPITAL IMPROVEMENTS FUND FOR THE CHAUTAUQUA AVEAUJE
WATER MAIN."

Ayes: Clemons, Epperson, Griffin, King, Pitts, Webb
Nays: None

93-311 - Letter from th~ City Manager recommending
adoption of an ordinance amending Chapter 37 and Chapter 20 of
the City Code pertaining to Vehicles for Hire.

"The ordinance governing taxicabs has been under review
for several weeks.
