7t,68 August 24~ 1993 Ayes: Clemons, Epperson, Griffin, ~awks, King, Nays: None Pitts, Webb 93-330 - Letter from the City Manager recommending adoption of a motion to transfer $10,000 from the Grants Contingency Account to enhance planning and public information related to the Local Emergency Planning Committee. "The City of Portsmouth/Portsmouth Local Emergency Planning Committee (~EPC) has been awarded~a grant in the amount of $10,000 by the U. S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). The grant requires no local match. The City of Portsmouth's LEPC will obtain a number of immediate benefits from participation in the grant, including: 1. An updated chemical Emergency Response Pl&n. 2. Strengthened local, regional, state, and federal/ military relationshipsforchemical emergency .response preparedness. 3. Additional support for the Hazardous Material Regional Response Team. 4. Improved citizen understanding of Emergency Planning and Conununity "Right to Know." I recommend the approval of this request for transfer of $10,000 from the Grants Contingency Account," Motion by Mr. Pitts, and seconded by Mr. King, to transfer $10,000 from the Grants Contingency Account for the Local Emergency Planning Committee (LEPC), and was adopted by the following vote: Ayes: Clemons, Epperson, Griffin, Hawks, King, Pitts, Webb Nays: None 93-331 - Mr. Epperson offered the following nominations for appointments to the following Boards and Commissions: Board of Electrical Examiners Samuel G. Walker to be appointed to fill an unexpired term ending March 1, 1994, replacing Robert E. Jennings. Eme~qenc¥ Medical Services Advisory Co~ission Drema A. Hymon to be appointed for a term ending July 31, 1996, replacing Dr. Leocadio B. Penalosa, Jr. Motion of Mr. Epperson, and seconded by Mr. Pitts, to close the nominations, and there being no further nominations, the above were approved by unanimous vote. Motion by Mr. King, and seconded by Mr. Epperson, to go into Executive Session pursuant to provisions of Section 2.1-344 of the Code of Virginia for the following: (1) Consideration of the acquisition of real property for public use and the use of publicly held real property in the southern portion of the City as permitted under Subsection {A) (3) . The motion was adopted by unanimous vote.
