<br />AUQust 8. 2006 <br /> <br />Motion by Mr. Moody, and seconded by Ms. Psi mas, to adopt the following <br />ordinance, and was adopted by the following vote: <br /> <br />"ORDINANCE TO AMEND THE CITY'S FY 2006-2007 GENERAL FUND OPERATING <br />BUDGET TO INCREASE ESTIMATED REVENUES AND EXPENDITURES BY THE <br />SUM OF $14,898 TO PROVIDE FOR A PART-TIME MEMBERSHIP COORDINATOR <br />FOR THE PORTSMOUTH MUSEUMS." <br /> <br />Ayes: Heretick, Moody, Psi mas, Randall, D. Smith, R. Smith, Holley <br />Nays: None <br /> <br />06 - 353 - Adoption of an ordinance accepting a grant in the amount of $2,850 from the <br />Virginia Commission for the Arts and appropriating said amount in the FY 2006-2007 <br />Grants Fund to support the Outdoor Sculpture Competition and Exhibition at the <br />Courthouse Galleries in 2007. Vision Principle: Lifelong Learning Community. <br /> <br />Background: <br />. The City of Portsmouth has received funds from the Virginia Commission for the <br />Arts Project Grant category. <br />. The grant is in support of an Outdoor Sculpture Competition and Exhibition in the <br />courtyard of the Courthouse Galleries. <br />. This is the second year of this annual exhibition. <br /> <br />Discussion: <br />. The grant will help to cover expenses including printing a gallery guide, support <br />artists' travel/shipping expenses and help sponsor a Juror's Choice Award or People's <br />Choice Award. <br />. The exhibition will open with a reception on March 2, 2007 and continue through <br />August 26, 2007. <br />. The Courthouse Galleries will receive a 25% commission for all artwork sold <br />during the show. <br />. Financial Impact: The Department of Museums will be providing a cash match <br />of $3,935, which has already been budgeted for this project. <br /> <br />Staff Recommends: <br />Adoption of proposed ordinance. Vision Principle: Lifelong Learning Community. <br /> <br />Next Steps Following Council Action: <br />. Printing the Prospectus and advertising the exhibition. <br /> <br />Motion by Ms. Psi mas, and seconded by Ms. Randall, to adopt the following <br />ordinance, and was adopted by the following vote: <br /> <br />"ORDINANCE ACCEPTING A GRANT IN THE AMOUNT OF $2,850 FROM THE <br />VIRGINIA COMMISSION FOR THE ARTS AND APPROPRIATING SAID AMOUNT IN <br />THE FY 2006-2007 GRANTS FUND TO SUPPORT THE OUTDOOR SCULPTURE <br />COMPETITION AND EXHIBITION AT THE COURTHOUSE GALLERIES IN 2007." <br /> <br />Ayes: Heretick, Moody, Psi mas, Randall, D. Smith, Holley <br />Nays: None <br /> <br />06 - 354 - Adoption of an ordinance accepting a grant from the Commonwealth of <br />Virginia Department of Criminal Justice Services in the amount of $553,667 and <br />appropriating said amount in the Grants Fund Budget for Pretrial and Probation <br />Services in the City. Vision Principle: Neighborhood and Community Transformation. <br />
