Pending Council approval, the Director of BHS will ensure the Shelter Plus Care <br />and Supportive Housing Grant Programs will continue to provide housing services to the <br />City's homeless consumers. <br /> <br />Motion by Mr. Whitehurst, and seconded by Mr. Moody, to adopt the following <br />ordinance, and was adopted by the following vote: <br /> <br />"ORDINANCE ACCEPTING A GRANT IN THE AMOUNT OF $396,145.00 FROM THE <br />U.S. DEPARTMENT OF HOUSING AND URBAN DEVELOPMENT (HUD) AND <br />APPROPRIATING THE SAME AMOUNT IN THE FY 2005-2006 GRANTS FUND FOR <br />USE BY THE DEPARTMENT OF BEHAVIORAL HEAL THCARE SERVICES FOR THE <br />SHELTER PLUS CARE AND SUPPORTIVE HOUSING PROGRAMS." <br /> <br />Ayes: Heretick, Moody, Psi mas, Randall, Smith, Whitehurst, Holley <br />Nays: None <br /> <br />06 - 127 - Adoption of an ordinance to amend Chapter 35 of the City Code pertaining to <br />property tax assessment procedures. Vision Principle: A Robust and Prospering <br />Economy. <br /> <br />Background: <br />. The City Code directs specific action dealing with collection of all revenues due <br />the City, and specific questions in disbursing funds on behalf of the City. <br /> <br />Discussion: <br />. This Ordinance proposes to change the month of each year, for which the <br />Commissioner of the Revenue shall deliver to the City Treasurer a copy of the record of <br />assessments of personal property for the levying of personal property taxes, from May <br />to Apri I. <br />. According to the Code, a taxpayer is entitled to receive a credit for taxes already <br />paid towards taxable property newly transferred to the taxpayer, or a credit against any <br />property taxes outstanding against the taxpayer on a prorated bases. This Ordinance <br />also proposes to change the person to whom the Commissioner of Revenue shall apply <br />for a refund when there is no tax liability against which this credit can apply, from the <br />Chief Financial Officer to the City Treasurer. <br />. Financial Impact: There will be no financial impact on the City. <br /> <br />Staff Recommends: <br />Adoption of an Ordinance to amend Chapter 35 of the City Code pertaining to property <br />tax assessment procedures.
