<br />September 27, 2005 <br /> <br />Next Steps Following Council Action: <br />. The Chief of Police or his designee will provide grant management and oversight. <br /> <br />Motion by Mr. Moody, and seconded by Mr. Whitehurst, to adopt the following <br />ordinance, and was adopted by the following vote: <br /> <br />"ORDINANCE ACCEPTING A COMMONWEALTH OF VIRGINIA VIRGINIA <br />DEPARTMENT OF MOTOR VEHICLES GRANT IN THE AMOUNT OF $3,000 AND <br />APPROPRIATING SAID AMOUNT IN THE GRANTS FUND FOR ENFORCEMENT OF <br />DRIVING UNDER THE INFLUENCE LAWS." <br /> <br />Ayes: Heretick, Moody, Psi mas, Randall, Whitehurst, Holley <br />Nays: None <br /> <br />05 - 441 - Adoption of an ordinance to accept the grant award of $300,000 and to <br />appropriate the same amount for a General Assembly Non-State Agency grant which <br />provides for the design, renovation and expansion of the Children's Museum of Virginia. <br />There is no cash match required for this grant. Vision Principle: Neighborhood and <br />Community Transformation. <br /> <br />Background: <br />. The staff of the Children's Museum of Virginia, working with LaPaglia and <br />Associates developed a master plan for the renovation and expansion of the Children's <br />Museum that was completed in 2003. <br />. This was followed by a Content Development plan, that was completed in 2004. <br />. In 2005, Lee Skolnick and Associates was hired as the exhibit designers for the <br />project. <br />. HBA is the architectural firm of record. <br /> <br />Discussion: <br />. The funds from the General Assembly are being earmarked to continue the <br />architectural services of HBA. <br />. It is essential that the exhibit design firm and architectural firm work in tandem in <br />order to obtain the best product at the most reasonable cost. <br />. Financial Impact: There is no cash match required by the City. <br /> <br />Staff Recommends: <br />Adoption of an Ordinance to accept the grant award of $300,000 and to appropriate the <br />same amount for the General Assembly Non-State Agency grant which would provide <br />for the design, renovation and expansion of the Children's Museum of Virginia.
