September 27, 2005 Next Steps Following Council Action: . The Chief of Police or his designee will provide grant management and oversight. Motion by Mr. Moody, and seconded by Mr. Whitehurst, to adopt the following ordinance, and was adopted by the following vote: "ORDINANCE ACCEPTING A COMMONWEALTH OF VIRGINIA VIRGINIA DEPARTMENT OF MOTOR VEHICLES GRANT IN THE AMOUNT OF $3,000 AND APPROPRIATING SAID AMOUNT IN THE GRANTS FUND FOR ENFORCEMENT OF DRIVING UNDER THE INFLUENCE LAWS." Ayes: Heretick, Moody, Psi mas, Randall, Whitehurst, Holley Nays: None 05 - 441 - Adoption of an ordinance to accept the grant award of $300,000 and to appropriate the same amount for a General Assembly Non-State Agency grant which provides for the design, renovation and expansion of the Children's Museum of Virginia. There is no cash match required for this grant. Vision Principle: Neighborhood and Community Transformation. Background: . The staff of the Children's Museum of Virginia, working with LaPaglia and Associates developed a master plan for the renovation and expansion of the Children's Museum that was completed in 2003. . This was followed by a Content Development plan, that was completed in 2004. . In 2005, Lee Skolnick and Associates was hired as the exhibit designers for the project. . HBA is the architectural firm of record. Discussion: . The funds from the General Assembly are being earmarked to continue the architectural services of HBA. . It is essential that the exhibit design firm and architectural firm work in tandem in order to obtain the best product at the most reasonable cost. . Financial Impact: There is no cash match required by the City.
