the <br /> <br /> January 11, 1994 <br /> <br />Motion by Mr. Pitts, and seconded by Mr. Epperson, to adopt <br />following re'solution, and was adopted by the following vote: <br /> <br /> "A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO RELEASE AND <br />VACATE A PORTION OF A UTILITY BASEMENT IN THE BLOCK BOUNDED BY <br />MT. VERNON AVENUE, COMMERCE STREET, FLORIDA AVENUE AND PORTLAND <br />STREET TO PORT NORFOLK ASSOCIATES. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the Council of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia, <br />closed the alley lying between Mt. Vernon Avenue on the east, <br />Florida Avenue on the west, Commerce Street on the north and <br />Portland Street on the south by an ordinance adopted on October <br />13, 1992; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, by said ordinance the City of Portsmouth, <br />Virginia, reserved unto itself a perpetual easement to install, <br />operate, maintain and replace public utilities over, under and <br />across said alley; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Port Norfolk Associates is about to expand its <br />facilities located in said block, and vacation and release of <br />the easement is necessary to said construction. <br /> <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the Council of the City <br />of Portsmouth, Virginia, that the City Manager be, and he is <br />hereby authorized to execute a deed of release to Port Norfolk <br />Associates to vacate that portion of City's perpetual easement <br />for public utilities as shown on that certain plat entitled <br />"Plat Showing a Portion of Utilities Easement'to be Conveyed to <br />Port Norfolk Associates", dated December 30, 1993, prepared by <br />the Department of Public Utillties of the City of Portsmouth, <br />Virginia, on the condition that an easement of 15 feet be <br />conveyed to the City for re-routing of utilities as the City <br />deems most practical." <br /> <br />yes: Epperson, Griffin, King, Pitts, Webb <br />ays: None <br />Abstained: Hawks <br /> <br />94-14 Letter from the City Manager recommending adoption of a <br />resolution to convey title to property known as Block G on the <br />Plat of Addition to Prentis Place and the closed portion of Race <br />Street to Portsmouth Redevelopment and Housing Authority (PRHA). <br /> <br /> "Portsmouth Redevelopment and Housing Authority is <br />preparing to create a residential subdivision on a portion of <br />the old Robert E. Lee School site. This subdivision will occupy <br />all of Block G on the Plat of Addition to Prentis Place (except <br />that portion now leased to the Miller Day Nursery) and that <br />portion of Race Street which adjoins the block as a result of <br />~ts closure. <br /> <br /> I recommend adoption of this resolution authorizing the <br />conveyance of the aforementioned property to PP~HA, for the <br />purpose of Community Development." <br /> <br /> Motion by Mr. Epperson, and seconded by Mr. Griffin, to <br />adopt the following resolution, and was adopted by the following <br />vote: <br /> <br /> "A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO CONVEY A <br />PORTION OF BLOCK G ON THE PLAT OF "ADDITION TO PRENTIS PLACE", <br />TO PORTSMOUTH REDEVELOPMENT AND HOUSING AUTHORITY. <br /> <br /> <br />
