the January 11, 1994 Motion by Mr. Pitts, and seconded by Mr. Epperson, to adopt following re'solution, and was adopted by the following vote: "A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO RELEASE AND VACATE A PORTION OF A UTILITY BASEMENT IN THE BLOCK BOUNDED BY MT. VERNON AVENUE, COMMERCE STREET, FLORIDA AVENUE AND PORTLAND STREET TO PORT NORFOLK ASSOCIATES. WHEREAS, the Council of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia, closed the alley lying between Mt. Vernon Avenue on the east, Florida Avenue on the west, Commerce Street on the north and Portland Street on the south by an ordinance adopted on October 13, 1992; and WHEREAS, by said ordinance the City of Portsmouth, Virginia, reserved unto itself a perpetual easement to install, operate, maintain and replace public utilities over, under and across said alley; and WHEREAS, Port Norfolk Associates is about to expand its facilities located in said block, and vacation and release of the easement is necessary to said construction. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia, that the City Manager be, and he is hereby authorized to execute a deed of release to Port Norfolk Associates to vacate that portion of City's perpetual easement for public utilities as shown on that certain plat entitled "Plat Showing a Portion of Utilities Easement'to be Conveyed to Port Norfolk Associates", dated December 30, 1993, prepared by the Department of Public Utillties of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia, on the condition that an easement of 15 feet be conveyed to the City for re-routing of utilities as the City deems most practical." yes: Epperson, Griffin, King, Pitts, Webb ays: None Abstained: Hawks 94-14 Letter from the City Manager recommending adoption of a resolution to convey title to property known as Block G on the Plat of Addition to Prentis Place and the closed portion of Race Street to Portsmouth Redevelopment and Housing Authority (PRHA). "Portsmouth Redevelopment and Housing Authority is preparing to create a residential subdivision on a portion of the old Robert E. Lee School site. This subdivision will occupy all of Block G on the Plat of Addition to Prentis Place (except that portion now leased to the Miller Day Nursery) and that portion of Race Street which adjoins the block as a result of ~ts closure. I recommend adoption of this resolution authorizing the conveyance of the aforementioned property to PP~HA, for the purpose of Community Development." Motion by Mr. Epperson, and seconded by Mr. Griffin, to adopt the following resolution, and was adopted by the following vote: "A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO CONVEY A PORTION OF BLOCK G ON THE PLAT OF "ADDITION TO PRENTIS PLACE", TO PORTSMOUTH REDEVELOPMENT AND HOUSING AUTHORITY.
