272 January 11, 1994 WHEREAS, the City of Portsmouth, Virginia, is the owner of that block of land known as Block G on the Plat of "Addition to Prentis Place", and the adjoining portion of Race Street, which was closed by an ordinance adopted by Council on January 24, 1967; and WHEREAS, Portsmouth Redevelopment and Housing Authority is desirous of acquiring all of said block, save and except that portion leased to Miller Day Nursery, for the purpose of developing a residential subdivision. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia, that the City Manager be, and he hereby is authorized to convey by deed of special warranty unto Portsmouth Redevelopment and Housing Authority all of Block G on the Plat of "Addition to Prentis Place", save and except that portion of Block G now leased to Miller Day Nursery, said conveyance to include that portion of Race Street adj~ent to Block G acquired as s result of the closure of Race Street, upon such terms and conditions as the City Manager shall determine to be in the best interest of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia." Ayes: Epperson, Griffin, Hawks, King, Pitts, Webb Nays: None 94-15 Letter from the City Manager recommending adoption of a motion submitting the Comprehensive Annual Financial Report for the fiscal year ended June 30, 1993, and the Quarterly Financial Report for the periods ended June 30, 1993 and September 30, 1993. "The Comprehensive Annual Financial Report (CAFR) of the City of Portsmouth for the fiscal year ended June 30, 1993, is herewith submitted in accordance with the provisions of the City Code. The report was prepared by the Department of Finance in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles. In accordance with Section 12-64 of the City Code, the Quarterly Financial Reports for the periods ended June 30, 1993 and September 30, 1993 are also submitted. I recommend your approval of a motion to receive these reports as information and to refer them to the Municipal Finance Conunission." Motion by Mr. Epperson, and seconded by Mr. Pitts, to receive the CAFR as information and to refer them to the Municipal Finance Commission was adopted and by the following vote: Ayes: Epperson, Griffin, Hawks, King, Pitts, Webb Nays: None - NEW BUSINESS 94-16 - Mr. Pitts offered the following nominations for appointments to the following Boards and Commissions: STOP Harriett Norfleet to be appointed for a term ending November 1, 1996, replacing Harold Goodman. Downtown Design Con~nittee Robert W. Wentz to be reappointed for a term ending February 1, 1997.
