<br />94-28 Letter from th~ City Manager recommending adoption of
<br />an ordinance to appropriate $36,000 from the Capital
<br />Improvements Fund for renovations to acco~unodate the Family
<br />Court System and award of the design contract to the lowest
<br />responsible bidder, Williams, Tazewell and Associates.
<br />
<br /> "The State Legislature recently adopted the Family Court
<br />System which will replace the present Juvenile Courts. This
<br />court system will become effective January 1, 1995. Funds are
<br />identified in the first year of the 1993-98 Capital Improvement
<br />Plan to complete renovations to the court building needed to
<br />accommodate the Family Court system.
<br />
<br /> At this time, it is necessary to award the contract for
<br />preparation of the architectural plans to Williams, Tazewell
<br />and Associates, the firm selected through the public
<br />procurement process. The total appropriation requested is as
<br />follows:
