<br />April 12. 2005 <br /> <br />BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Task Force shall complete its work and <br />present a proposed Flood Plain Management Plan to the City Council for adoption by <br />September 1,2005." <br /> <br />Ayes: Heretick, Moody, Psi mas, Randall, Smith, Whitehurst, Holley <br />Nays: None <br /> <br />05 - 171 - Adoption of a resolution to support funding assistance in the amount of <br />$170,000 from the Virginia Department of Conservation and Recreation (OCR) for the <br />proposed Nature Center at the Hoffler Creek Preserve. <br /> <br />OCR has indicated that the proposed Nature Center is eligible for funding in the <br />amount of $170,000 with same amount required in matching funds. The Center <br />was approved as a project by the City Council and funded for $250,000 I the <br />FY2004-2005 Capital Improvement Fund, which is available to be used as the <br />cash matching requirement. Vision Principle: Bold New Directions. <br /> <br />Recommendation: <br /> <br />. Adoption of a resolution authorizing the City Attorney and the City Clerk to develop <br />and present for Council's consideration a re-codification of the current City Code. <br /> <br />Summary: <br /> <br />. The Portsmouth City Code has not undergone a comprehensive re-codification <br />since its adoption in 1988. The City Code needs to be updated so that it is easier for <br />the public to understand and inconsistencies that have occurred due to the number of <br />amendments and revisions adopted may be corrected. <br /> <br />Purpose and Need: <br /> <br />. The Portsmouth City Code has not undergone a comprehensive re-codification <br />since its adoption in 1988. <br /> <br />. Over the years, inconsistencies resulting from numerous code amendments and <br />state statutory revisions have arisen within the city code. <br /> <br />. In addition, numerous provisions are difficult for the public to understand, and the <br />code's organization needs to be updated. <br /> <br />Financial Impact: <br /> <br />. The development of the draft re-codified code will require consultation and <br />coordination with the Municipal Code Corporation, the publishers of the current code. <br />Their fees are estimated at $30,000. <br /> <br />Motion by Mr. Whitehurst, and seconded by Mr. Moody, to adopt the following <br />resolution, and was adopted by the following vote: <br />
