October 28, 2003 · The vessel will improve Portsmouth Fire Department response capabilities in providing fire services, emergency rescue, hazardous materials response, and response to terrorist and Weapons of Mass Destruction events by protecting the assets of the Virginia Port Authority, the military, businesses and citizens along the Hampton Roads Harbor. Financial Impact: · There is no local cash match required at this time. Motion by Mr. Pitts, and seconded by Mr. Whitehurst, to adopt the following ordinance, and was adopted by the following vote: "ORDINANCE TO APPROPRIATE $600,000 IN PURCHASE OF A MARITIME EMERGENCY PORTSMOUTH FIRE DEPARTMENT." THE GRANTS FUND FOR THE RESPONSE VESSEL FOR THE Ayes: Benn, Griffin, Moody, Pitts, Randall, Whitehurst, Holley Nays: None 03 - 396 - Adoption of a resolution authorizing the City Manager to execute a permit to the City of Suffolk, Virginia which would provide for the City of Suffolk to have the right to construct and maintain a water transmission main and sewer force main across property of the City of Portsmouth. The sole purpose of the permit is for the carrying of water and sewage over, under, and across property of the City of Portsmouth and designated as the Turlington Road Water Transmission and Sewer Force Main. Recommendation: · Adoption of a resolution authorizing the City Manager to issue a permit to the City of Suffolk, Virginia which would provide for the City of Suffolk to have the right to construct and maintain a water transmission main and sewer force main across property of the City of Portsmouth designated as the Turlington Road Water Transmission and Sewer Force Main. Purpose and Need: · The City of Suffolk needs to provide a water transmission main and sewer force main for the sole purpose of carrying water and sewage over, under, and across the property of the City of Portsmouth designated as the Turlington Road Water Transmission and Sewer Force Main. Financial Impact: · There is no financial impact. Motion by Mr. Whitehurst, and seconded by Mr. Moody, to adopt the following resolution, and was adopted by the following vote: "A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE A PERMIT TO THE CITY OF SUFFOLK, VIRGINIA ALLOWING THE CITY OF SUFFOLK TO CONSTRUCT AND MAINTAIN A WATER TRANSMISSION MAIN AND SEWER FORCE MAIN FOR THE SOLE PURPOSE OF CARRYING WATER AND SEWAGE OVER, UNDER AND ACROSS THE PROPERTY OF THE CITY OF PORTSMOUTH, DESIGNATED AS THE TURLINGTON ROAD WATER TRANSMISSION AND SEWER FORCE MAIN.
