-68 <br /> <br />October 28~ 2003 <br /> <br /> BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia, that the <br />City Manager be, and he hereby is, authorized to execute a permit to the City of Suffolk, <br />Virginia allowing the City of Suffolk to construct and maintain a water transmission main <br />and sewer fome main for the sole purpose of carrying water and sewage over, under <br />and across the property of the City of Portsmouth in the area of the Speights Run Dam, <br />said facilities to be designated as the Turlington Road Water Transmission and Sewer <br />Force Main." <br /> <br />Ayes: Benn, Griffin, Moody, Pitts, Randall, Whitehurst, Holley <br />Nays: None <br /> <br />- New Business - <br /> <br />03 - 397 - Boards and Commissions <br /> <br />There were no appointments. <br /> <br />03 - 398 - Items Submitted by Council Members <br /> <br />Councilman Whitehurst announced being elected as Chairman of Urban Section for <br />the Virginia Municipal League while in Roanoke, Virgima. Also, he offered his <br />support for the First Cities Coalition. <br /> <br />Councilman Pitts announced his attendance at the Virginia Municipal League <br />Conference, and service on the Legislative Committee with support for Councilman <br />Whitehurst. Also, he spoke on fireboat funds coming from the U. S. Department of <br />Transportation. <br /> <br />Vice Mayor Griffin spoke in support of Home-A-Rama and congratulated all who <br />have participated. <br /> <br />The City Clerk announced the November 11 2003 City Council meeting was <br />canceled by the City Council due to the Veteran's Day holiday. The next meeting <br />will be on November 25, 2003. <br /> <br />03 - 399 - Non-Agenda Speakers <br /> <br />1. Joseph Lyle, 301 West Freemason Street, spoke on an Economic Development <br /> opportunity. <br /> <br />2. Martha Ann Creecy, 317 Dinwiddie Street, spoke on the lack of support from citizens <br /> for the Sports Hall of Fame. <br /> <br /> On motion, meeting adjourned at 8:58 p.m. <br /> Minu~es prepar~ <br /> <br />/Victor H.
