At a Regular Meeting <br />there were present: <br /> <br /> June 24, 2003 <br />of the City Council <br /> <br />Mayor James W. Holley III, Vice Mayor Bernard <br />J. Thomas Benn III, Charles B. Whitehurst, Sr., <br />Douglas Smith, City Attorney G. Timothy Oksman. <br /> <br /> Councilman Cameron C. Pitts opened the <br />followed by the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag. <br /> <br />on Tuesday, June 24, 2003, <br /> <br />D. Griffin, Sr., Cameron C. Pitts, <br />Marlene W. Randall, Deputy City <br /> <br />meeting with prayer, which was <br /> <br />· The City of Portsmouth salute the Churchland High School Concert Band. <br /> <br />- Unfinished Business - <br /> <br />03-206- Rezoning and use permit: <br /> <br /> Motion by Mr. Pitts, and seconded by Mr. Whitehurst, to adopt the following <br />ordinance, approved on first reading at the June 10, 2003 meeting, and was adopted by <br />the following vote: <br /> <br />03-206(a): <br /> <br />"ZONING AMENDMENT ORDINANCE Z-03-09." <br /> <br />Ayes: Benn, Griffin, Pitts, Randall, Whitehurst, Holley <br />Nays: None <br /> <br />03-206(b): <br /> <br /> Motion by Mr. Whitehurst, and seconded by Ms. Randall, to adopt the following <br />resolution, approved on first reading at the June 10, 2003 meeting, and was adopted by <br />the following vote: <br /> <br />"A RESOLUTION GRANTING A USE PERMIT FOR A WATER STORAGE AND <br />PUMPING FACILITY AT 313 AND 321 CHOATE STREET. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the City of Portsmouth has made application pursuant to Section <br />40-43.1 of the Code of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia (1988) for the granting of a use <br />permit to construct and operate a water storage and pumping facility at 313 and 321 <br />Choate Street; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the applicant and the Planning Director have done all things <br />required to be done in connection with said application; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the Planning Commission has recommended granting the <br />application for a use permit with conditions. <br /> <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of <br />Portsmouth, Virginia: <br /> <br />1. That the use for which the permit hereinafter-described is sought: <br /> <br /> (a) Will not adversely affect the health and safety of persons residing or <br />working in the neighborhood of the proposed use; <br /> <br />03 -218 -Presentation: <br /> <br /> Motion by Mr. Pitts, and seconded by Mr. Whitehurst, to approve the minutes of a <br />Called Meeting on June 10, 2003, and a Regular Meeting on June 10, 2003, and was <br />adopted by unanimous vote. <br /> <br />Mayor Holley called the meeting to order and welcomed all in attendance. <br /> <br /> <br />
