Ayes: Clemons, Epperson, Griffin, Hawks, King, Pitts, Webb Nays: None 94-127 - Letter from the City Manager recommending adoption of an ordinance to appropriate $10;000 from the Capital Improvements Fund for the installation of backflow preventers at several. City owned facilities. "The 1993/94 Capital Improvement Plan authorized $10,000 for backflow preventers at various other City buildings. These devices prevent water from being drawn back into the water line, and are required to bring these buildings into compliance with State and City regulations. The project amount will cover the cost of materials for the Civic Center, City Hall, and Portsmouth Sleepy Hole Golf Course. The Director of General Operations has recommended that $10,000 be appropriated to allow installation at these and other City facilities as funding permits. Labor for this project will be provided by City forces. I concur with this recommendation and request appropriation in the amount of $10,000. Ayes: Clemons, Epperson, Griffin, Hawks, King, Pitts, Webb Nays: None 94-128 Letter from the City Manager recommending adoption of a resolution authorizing the City Manager to convey the property known as Lots 26, 27 and 28 and Block 23 as shown on the plat of the property of the Prentis Park Corporation, to the Portsmouth Redevelopment and Housing Authority (PPJ{A). "Portsmouth Redevelopment and Housing Authority has requested that the City convey the old Des Moines Avenue Fire Station site for community development purposes. This property has been vacant for a number of years, and the City has no further use for the site. A sale of this site by PRHA would put it back on the tax roll. I, therefore, recommend adoption of this resolution giving the City Manager authority to convey the property to PRHA upon such terms and conditions as shall be in the best interest to the City."
