Apri~ 12~ 1994 <br /> <br />94-125 - Letter from t~e City. Manager recommending adoption of <br />an ordinance to appropriate $50,000 from the Capital <br />Improvements Fund for heating and air cqnditioning systems <br />replacement/repair, and award of a contract to Energy <br />Technologies, Inc. <br /> <br /> "The 1993/94 Capital Improvement Plan authorized $50,000 <br />for ~he repair and replacement of a number of heating and air <br />conditioning systems in City owned buildings. The Department of <br />General Services has identified six sites where these systems <br />have to be either repaired or replaced. <br /> <br /> Bids for each site were received and a listing of each site <br />and bidder is attached for your review. The Director of General <br />Operations has recommended that Energy Technologies Inc., the <br />t. ow bidder for three of the sites, be awarded a bid in the <br />amount of $28,837. The remaining bids total $14,775.90 and will <br />be awarded to other.contractors. With contingencies, it is <br />anticipated that $50,000 will be needed for the total project <br />cost. <br /> <br /> I concur with this recommendation and request appropriation <br />in the amount of $50,000. With your approval of this item, the <br />balance in the Capital Improvements Fund will be $16,706,116." <br /> <br /> Motion by Mr. King, and seconded by Mr. Griffin, to adopt <br />the following ordinance, and was adopted by the following vote: <br /> <br /> "AN ORDINANCE TO APPROPRIATE $50,000 FROM THE CAPITAL <br />IMPROVEMENTS FUND FOR HEATIN~ AND AIR CONDITIONING SYSTEMS <br />REPLACEMENT/REPAIR." <br /> <br />Ayes: Clemons, Epperson, Griffin, Hawks, King, Pitts, Webb <br />Nays: None <br /> <br /> Motion by Mr. Epperson, and seconded by Mr. Clemons, to <br />award contracts to the following bidders to replace/repair <br />heating and air conditioning units at various City facilities: <br /> <br />Energy Technologies, Inc. <br />Virginia Air Distributors <br />TRACO of Tidewater <br />R. E. Michaels <br /> <br />$28,837 <br />$ 3,968 <br />$ 4,998 <br />$ 1,875 <br /> <br />and was adopted by the following vote: <br /> <br />Ayes: Clemons, Epperson, Griffin, Hawks, King, Pitts, Webb <br />Nays: None <br /> <br />94-126 - Letter from the City Manager recommending adoption of <br />an ordinance to appropriate $15,000 from the Capital <br />Improvements Fund for improvements to certain buildings at the <br />City Operation Center. <br /> <br /> "The 1993/94 Capital Improvement Plan authorized funding <br />for the installation of a sewage system at the Operations Center <br />located on Frederick Boulevard. The Radio Shop, Sign and Paint <br />Shop, Electrical Shop, and Properties Management currently use a <br />septic system. According to the Code, the septic system is <br />required to be replaced by connecting these buildings to <br />existing City sewer lines. <br /> <br /> Bids for needed materials were solicited from various <br />vendors and a listing of these bidders is attached for your <br />review. The bids are for materials only as labor for <br />installation will be provided by City forces. The Director of <br />General Operations has recommended that $15,000 be appropriated <br />as the costs associated with this pro]ect. <br /> <br /> <br />
