Progress. ~ Referred by the two branches August l$%h and 21st. <br /> <br /> Authorized to advertise for bids to pave two blocks on North street, ~ddle street and two blocks <br /> <br /> on Lincoln street. <br /> We have instructed the 0ity Engineer to advertise for bids to pave said streets <br /> <br /> with asphalt, bitulith~c, bituminous macadam, or vitrified bricks. <br /> <br /> Referred by Common 0ounc~l July 14th. <br /> <br /> Recommendations of the ~Yayor in regard to repair of Swimming Point Bridge; the opening of a <br /> street from west end of the bridge to Carroll street; to acquire the mar~h property.between Dinw~id- <br /> die street and the high land to west of that street for a park. <br /> <br /> We report progress as to repair of the Swimming Point Bridge; but concerning the other recom- <br />mendations would advise that they be not carried out at the present time. <br /> <br /> Referred hy Board of ~ldermen July 21st. <br /> <br /> & resolution of the Board of Health concerning the establistnnent of a crematory. <br /> <br /> The Connnittee is looking into the ~atter and will report thereon in the near future. <br /> <br /> The advisability of guttering streets in West Park View which have been curbed, and of gutter- <br /> ing and curbing all other streets in that section. Progress. <br /> <br /> To request the Traction 0ompany to extend its car service into West Park View. <br /> <br /> The Clerk will write to the officials of the 0ompany and call their attention to the popu- <br />lation of West Park View, and to the number of petitioners for such service. <br /> <br /> Referred by 0ommon Council ~arch 10th. <br /> <br /> A petition of E. A. Earnest !.n regard to condition of drainage in the block bounded by Washing- <br />ton, Glasgow, Dinwlddie and London streets. <br /> <br /> According to estimates of the 0ity Engineer it will cost about $1,050 to put said section <br /> in proper condition, and we recommend an appropriation of that amount for the purpose. <br /> <br /> Previously referred. <br /> <br /> The extension of Washington streetnorthward. <br /> <br /> We thirJ~ it inexpedient to attempt to carry out the extension of Washington street beyond <br />Carroll street; but would reco~mnend that the extension be carried to Carroll street, Such extension <br />would cost about $4,500 for the purchase of property along Washington street, and $3~500 additional <br />for a drain pipe and culvert for same. <br /> <br /> Your Committee requests further an appropriation of $2,000 for purchase <br /> <br />that it be <br /> <br /> of crushed stone; and <br />out of the regular appropriation for Street Cleaning, for re- <br /> <br /> <br />
